Having moved from Long Island to PA a few years ago, I was eager to revisit one of my favorite restaurants, JT's on the Bay, during a recent trip back. I was surprised to find that JT's had closed and is now Buoy 35. The new owners did a nice job redoing the place, but I did miss the overhang tent they had outside. Unfortunately, it was raining, and without the tent everyone had to cram into the small building, which only fits about 4-5 tables.
I also wish they had kept some of the popular menu items from the former place, like the crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese. While some of Buoy 35's special items seemed really great, they should consider adding them to the regular menu! The prices also seemed to be noticeably higher which was a bit disappointing. Another downside was the high-top chairs, which aren't very comfortable if you have a bigger butt or wide hips. If you're looking for waterfront dining with seafood, Buoy 35...
Read moreI’ve patronized this place several times in the past and always had a good experience but yesterday August 30th, 25 was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The band was intolerable loud and the worst ever. I was sitting at a table at the far end eating with family and had to throw down my food and leave. I first sat at the bar and ordered a Long Island ice tea. The young lady supposedly to be a bartender had no clue how to make an official ice tea. She needs to go to bartender school. To throw someone behind a bar who has no clue is pathetic and not fair to patrons who pay good money. So I rated the atmosphere 1 star mainly because of the horrible music. Not pleasant at all. If they keep this up they will not last. There is many other places to choose from. A wasted day for us. I rarely or never comment on places I patronize but this day deserves a BIG ZERO. They shouldn’t have paid us for tolerating it for the short time we...
Read moreMy daughter and I went for lunch on Sunday after seeing the ad in the local paper. The restaurant settings made us feel like we were in a restaurant in the Caribbean. Outdoor, seating with loud country music. It was a very disappointing experience. Wine served in a disposable glass, and disposable fork and knife.. I ordered the shrimp scampi. About 6 medium sized shrimp served over a gluey linguine. Not baked or sautéed. The starch tasted raw. After two bites I could not have more. The waitress did not come back to check if all was fine. My daughter decided to take my left overs home as she was paying a hefty $35.00 dollars for my meal. She had scallops over Lobster risotto . It wasn't anything to write home about. Disappointing food and service, .and...
