Firehouse Deli — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

New to the community and had a warm welcome the first 2 times at this deli, love the bagels.- today was the total opposite. The woman behind the counter was overwhelmed and seemed annoyed when my sons and I placed our orders for egg sandwiches. When we finally went to eat our sandwiches, my one sons sandwich was not what he ordered. When I asked for the egg sandwich to be made correctly, she said my son should have used the word "scrambled ". My son is 15, just said bacon, egg and cheese. It is what he usually says. I told her he's 15, give me a break...her gesture of pointing her finger to her head and aggressively stating " most of them are smart"...insinuating that my son was stupid for not ordering the sandwich using the correct lingo? Totally unprofessional and she did this in front of other customers. Very nasty person and obviously can't handle...

It is not what I expected. Wen you first enter, you immediately notice the limited supplies and empty trays. The menu on the board looked good. I ordered a Caprese panini (chicken, fresh mozz, roasted peppers and pesto) and an egg sandwich. Service was quick. The egg sandwich was average nothing great, not worth writing about, but certainly not good enough to go back there a 2nd time. The panini, It is obvious they did not know what a panini is. The type of bread was cheap and has some slight grill marks on it. But the sandwich was not pressed, and served warm; it was cold and the bread was falling apart, and there was no pesto. I was hungry so I ate a few bites of the "panini" but then picked out the very cold chicken and cheese and tossed the bread. very disrespectful staff , new guy doesn’t know how to take a food order , and the rest of the staff blames you when the food comes out wrong. was told multiple times that my order was wrong because they couldn’t understand me on the phone, meanwhile the guy that took my order is trying to fix someone’s else order he messed up . I have been here plenty of times before since I’ve lived in town for the past 14 years , and the staff as always been a little rough around the edges but never disrespectful like today …..
