Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Update: changed my review from a 4 to a 1. After ordering from there at least 3 times a week for the past half year or so, we decided to order from them for the super bowl since we were having some friends over. Ordered $50 or so worth of food but intentionally did it early, around like 2-3pm, so there would be plenty of time for delivery and it wouldn’t be during a rush. The food arrived as we were getting the house ready. They forgot the sweet and sour sauce and we ordered a large sweet and sour chicken, so that’s an obvious issue. I called back and the rude lady at the front proceeded to tell me how she didn’t have time to send the delivery driver back to me because I lived too far away and that I needed to come get it myself. I nicely explained that I couldn’t leave because we had guests arriving, which is why I got the food delivered. She made such a big deal about how far away I am (I live ten minutes away and the whole reason I learned about them is they left a delivery menu on my front door) and I kept nicely explaining that I couldn’t leave and it wasn’t my fault the driver forgot the sauce (which is what she had told me) Eventually after being yelled at for like 7 minutes, I just wanted my money back. I was confused and aggravated after she continued to talk loudly about how SHE was upset because she “did me a favor” delivering to me all the time because we are too far away. I told her I would come bring back all the food, get a refund and wouldn’t ask her to deliver to me again since it’s such a problem. She then told me the delivery driver was already on his way (although she had said he wouldn’t be able to get to me for an hour just five minutes earlier). Needless to say, I will not be ordering from here again because I am afraid they will spit in my food if I even ask for delivery again, and because I don’t feel safe picking up food at their location. The food is average, but I’d rather spend my money at a cleaner place, in a safer, nicer location, where I am appreciated as a regular customer and where I don’t get yelled at. Below is my original post, but I promise their food isn’t good enough to deal with the rude woman who works at the front or to have to drive to that disgusting, sketch af parking lot where I legitimately am afraid of being stabbed or offered drugs at best. I genuinely like their food. It’s consistent and good. I have a very sensitive stomach and have never gotten sick from their food. Definitely opt for delivery - it comes very quickly, it’s always still steaming hot and the drivers are nice. I understand the complaints about the customer service, but I think people are going overboard. The woman who answers the phone isn’t the most friendly and can be short, but I order delivery from there at least once a week and they ALWAYS get my order right, even though I’m picky and ask for things specially cooked or with certain ingredients removed. Again, I do recommend getting delivery as the “shopping center” it’s located in is not a very desirable location, to put it kindly. Aside from that, the inside of the place doesn’t look dirty, albeit not new, and you can see straight back into thekitchen which looks sanitary as well. I have picked up from there several times and while I much prefer delivery, it’s not the end of the world. There are much worse places to be people, relax and enjoy some...

Great Food! & deliver with only a $10.00 minimum.. They accept Credit/Debit cards. and you can include tip also.. I Never been disappointed in the food.. Many places will only deliver with a $15.00 Min. and charge $1.50 delivery fee, "Happy Garden" delivers with only a $10.00 Min. and only a $1.00 delivery charge... And the food is Very, Very Good!! & the Girl that answered the phone to take the order, is always Very, Very Nice! The delivery driver is also & Always Very, Very, nice and polite as well!! Just a GR8 experience all around!! My favorites from them are "Sesame Shrimp* Subgum Wonton And all of their Egg Foo Young. Dont order here!!! I ordered there at least once a week. This time i ordered and asked to use my card over the phone. She took my card number and asked how much tip i wanted to put on the card. I say "no tip" ( because i had cash at home obviously). She says "well if you dont tip we dont bring food!" I was blown away at the rudeness because tipping is ALWAYS a courtesy NOT a requirement!
