Mac's Countryside Deli & Catering — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I'm not sure if there are new owners or not, but this was only my second time there. The first time and second time, costumers were asking if they changed owners and expressed they've been there many times, but they clearly had problems both times while I was there.

The guy taking orders knows NOTHING of their menu and prices, so he yelled to one of the other staff EVERY time to ask the price of things. Another worker gave a woman an inflated price while I was there, even though they have signs posted for prices on the same cooler she grabbed her drinks from...they were adamant about the price and giving the woman an attitude even though the price was still posted different on the refrigerator. I stepped in to tell them what the price on THEIR REFRIGERATOR says and received an attitude and was told all signs were removed, yet I was clearly looking at one! They did give the woman the deal she was deserved at least.

I went there on Tuesday, then today, and my price for the SAME ORDER (actually smaller because one sandwich was a half hero) changed around 20 dollars. When I questioned it, a woman pointed to a price sheet in front of a counter to state the prices that she rang me up by, but then wasn't the same price sheet there for the other guy that was ringing everyone up before me? Why would he have to keep asking??

This place is disorganized and untrustworthy in my opinion. I wanted to support local, but will be looking elsewhere...

I have eaten here dozens of times and I've never had a complaint. Unfortunately now I do, I recently got a hero and now it seems like they changed things up a bit. The normal LARGE hero's (full size 6 foot hero style size) that they normally use are no longer being used. Now you get an average sized hero like all of the other Deli's. This was one of the MAIN things that made this deli stand out from all of the other deli's. On top of that now you get substantially less meat and vegetables on the hero because the hero size is smaller and you are also paying the same price as you would have for the "larger" hero. I'm building houses in Middle Island for a little over a year now and whenever I had to get coffee in the AM I'd go there, never getting any food. There's this old school Italian guy straight out of a Bronx Tale behind the counter. I told him "I'd never know you were here unless my father told me about the time he went here 12 years ago". He said "well guess what, people come from all over to get one of my sandwiches" to be honest I rolled my eyes like whatever guy. Well... today I had my first sandwich and it was great! I can see why people come for it. Don't get me wrong I wouldnt drive from Manhattan, but when I'm in the area I know where to go. Packed, cooked perfect and around tasty....
