This place was really good. We got the Gorgonzola and steak flatbread and it was a huge portion & so delicious! For dinner we had the Mahi mahi w/mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts and the lobster raviolis. The food was all so good. Dessert was the key lime pie with pecan crust, TO DIE FOR!!! Not too tart, perfect. The servers seemed a little overwhelmed before the restaurant was even full. But I will definitely be going back and highly recommend this place to everyone. After hearing so many recommendations from friends, my wife and I ate here last night for the first time. After reading all the previous reviews, there's not much I can add here that has not been said. A real gem! If you are looking to experience a great little neighborhood restaurant that is friendly, offers a sophisticated menu of very well prepared and original food, this is the place! On a cold winter evening we were welcomed by the waitress Megan who then proceeded to engage and pamper us for the evening. All of her recommendations were spot on and delicious. I was told by a friend to make sure and get the flat breads which are made in house and we did. Simply the best I've ever had and the kind of cooking that I search for and seldom find. Owned and operated by a armed forces veteran husband/wife team that offers a discount to any vet is a wonderful touch. Another great touch for me was the restaurant decor, simple, classy and beautiful. Complements to whoever was responsible! Discovering that this great spot offers take out just sealed the deal for me. As the great Arnold said in Terminator......"I'll be back"

The South Ocean Grille in Patchogue just reopened. We stopped in to have lunch and check out the updated look. We were greeted by one of the owners, Gene, who excitedly explained the menu and drinks and his vision to be very "Long Island forward" meaning they will be serving as much local food and drinks as possible. Next we met Erin at the bar who was so friendly and warm. Our server ( sorry, didn't get her name) was also very sweet and attentive. For lunch my other half had scallops with risotto. He said it was perfect and was pleasantly surprised to find shrimp in the risotto. Bonus! I had the black bean burger which was super yummy and the fries were perfect, not oily at all and lightly seasoned. For dessert, we split a huge piece of key lime pie. My husband never eats the crust, but this time he ate the whole thing saying it was the best crust he ever had. The chef, Kevin, came over to thank us as we were leaving. He was warm and appreciative. And yes, he made everything including the key lime pie.😁 I'm happy to see this wonderful restaurant return. Pop in and give them a try.

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and it did not disappoint! My wife and I came here for lunch for our anniversary and ordered a bunch of appetizers. We ordered the mushroom flat bread and the steak flat bread and they were both phenomenal! They were also pretty large so we ended up taking half of each home for later. We got the truffle fries which are always one of our favorite things and there were no exception. They were covered in truffle and were absolutely delicious! We ordered truffle fries at another restaurant a few days later and were sadly disappointed compared to the ones here! We also got the cheese and olive board which was just OK. I wouldn't really include olive in the name since it was just a small cup with some green olives, and the cheeses were all too similar (parmesan like). The waitress was really awesome though and was always around to help and get anything we needed. Lastly I ordered an Apple Pie beer and I think it was the best flavored beer I've ever had. It literally tasted like you were eating apple pie. Phenomenal.

Although the food is excellent as described by all of the other reviewers I must comment about the wait staff which overall ruined my dining experience at this establishment. My experience with my friends this afternoon at this restaurant was about the worst I have ever had. It started with asking for a sample of wine to taste as we didn't know what to order, and three of us being given a sample in two small glasses with straws. (And that was having to ask for the sample twice). WHAT. Then my friend asked if she could have a small sample of the blend wine as we didnt know that they had this. The waitress told her NO she wouldn't bring anymore samples. WHAT. And promptly walked away. We also had to ask for menus after sitting for ten minutes. There were five of us and I asked for separate checks because some of us order food to take home for our spouses in addition to what we order. She said yes. Took our order and then asked if anyone wanted apps. I said yes, bring one on my bill for the whole table. Ten minutes later out comes the app with my one friends lunch. We ate the app and she started eating her meal. My meal came and it had no salmon as requested so back it went. Then the other two meals came out minus one that belonged to my other girl friend. Hers came ten minutes after that. But the worst of it was when the waitress came to the table to tell us, after that debacle, that we had to be out by 3:30. What...Some of us were still eating after the disgraceful way the food was served. But we said fine just bring the checks. Then 10 minutes later, the already loud music, had now been turned up and blasting like they wanted us to leave. DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOR and not professional at all. .AND WE STILL HAD NO CHECKS or we would have been gone. Finally, she brings ONE check, and says can you just put a number or something by what you had. I mean really. I just was at Snapper Inn in Oakdale on Sunday and the young waiter gave separate checks to over 10 women that day. I then had to do all of the work for what she was going to be tipped on. She received a normal tip from us but after making a mess of our meals, not refilling our water glasses, not asking if we wanted dessert or coffee you are still expected to tip. Not doing much of what we asked correctly we still did the right thing, but I really didnt want to leave her anything, she did not deserve it...Just awful...

So beware .The dining experience is not just about the great food it about the service too. And for the prices these days I EXPECT EXCELLENCE. Sorry I will...

If there was less than one star this resturant would qualify!

Food: spoiled seafood. 2 identical entrees had the spoiled “fishy” taste. One of the patrons took one bite and could not eat the spoiled entree. Never did the waitress ask if there was something odd about the entree. Additionally, another separate entree, the chef forgot to add one of the main ingredients in the entree which was brought to the table after the entree was served. Beware stay aware!

Wait staff: inexperience, unprofessional and unfriendly waitress. Waitress never introduced self, nor asked how the dining or food experience was. Or, if any of the Patrons would like desert or coffee. We over tipped the waitress beyond for what was beyond an AWEFUL inferior dining and food experience. Never were we asked if there is anything we needed to accommodate our dinning experience.

Interior and ambiance: table setting: crowed table seating, loud patrons. Very small table seating approximately 10 tables. Uncomfortable chairs.

Over priced for a beyond awful food and dining experience. We clearly had the financial means to accommodate any dining experience. This is clearly a less than one star...
