The Monster All You Can Eat Seafood & Bar — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

I have frequented this restaurant for years and have sent many people for a great experience. I can no longer recommend this restaurant after the way my family was treated. I will never give another monster crab a dime of my money!

I had family here from Florida, and family that drove from Franklin square out to Holtsville, excited to have a spectacular seafood dinner. 8 of us and a baby. My sister in law and the baby can't eat shellfish so she was going to order some appetizers and chicken fingers from the menu. My father tells the waitress we are all going to do the AYCE option except my sister in law (and of course the baby) and the waitress just says no you can't do that and walks around to the other end of the table to continue drink orders. So I think she's kidding from the way she says it, and I ask her what she's talking about. She says it's either everyone at the table or no one. WHAT?!!!?!? I have NEVER heard of such a thing. So I say to her, so you're telling me we can't order what we want , and if we do, she has to go sit in the car????? The waitress laughs at me and tells me no she doesn't need to sit in the car.... she can sit at another table or at the bar. WHAT?!?!! So I calmly ask to speak with the manager. A woman walks over and asks the problem, I nicely explain, we came all the way out for my dads birthday with people from out of state and I've raves about the restaurant for years and my sister in law wanted to be part of our night out but doesn't eat shellfish. She picks up the separate menu for the AYCE (that we were never even given) and says, no it's says it here on the bottom. You can't do that. WHHAATTT?!?!! That is the most insane policy I have EVER HEARD. I have been to many other restaurants that I've AYCE options (seafood and sushi) with people who didn't want to opt for that and we were NEVER TURNED AWAY!!! I understand, NO SHARING, but how do you tell people you can't order what you want off the menu because 1 person isn't ordering the same?!?! So my family gets up to walk out because of how ridiculous this was and how disgusted we were at how they spoke to us, like we were idiots or something. I ask the manager for the contact information for the owner, and she says ok and walks away. I wait at the hostess station to be IGNORED by everyone there including the manager who told Me she was getting the information. When I get her to answer me, she tells me she doesn't know. All she knows is his name is Tom. No last name. Not contact number. NOTHING. DIDGUSTING PEOPLE working in there now. When they first opened they were all so nice and accommodating, now they act like they're doing you a favor by allowing You to eat on their establishment on their terms. DISGUSTING. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THOS PLACE TO ANOTHER LIVING SOUL. And over the last few years I have recommended this not only to people I know , but constantly through the Long Island Foodies Page on Facebook

Our check would have easily been over $500 as we were ready to order drinks as well, and they just turned that away and an easy $100...

This place overall is not good. We had gotten there around 6:30 on a Saturday, it was not too busy. We ordered lobster bisque and the Mac and cheese. We waited 45 minutes for the Mac and cheese, that tasted like white cheddar velveeta, and my lobster bisque was cold and had no lobster in it. Our waiter had only checked in on us once, about 10 minutes in and told us it was almost ready. We then ordered wings, as well as a boil with king crab and shrimp. I asked for my garlic butter sauce to be on the side, but when it arrived it was not. The sauce also had huge chunks of garlic in it, which made it taste bad. The shrimp was rubbery and the crab tasted horrible. The potatoes tasted like dirt, I guess they were not washed. I also think for the price's they are charging, they can afford to add more then just one potato, and one corn to the boil. I had also noticed my boil did not come out in a bag, like I had seen for everyone else. I felt sick after eating this. Mind you this whole time, besides delivering the food, the waiter did not stop in to check on us, we were dying of thirst! I was also seated where I can see inside of the kitchen area, and I witnessed our waiter take a shot of alcohol. Extremely unprofessional. When it was time to get our check, once again our waiter was no where to be found, and we had to ask a different person for it. Funny enough, once we had the check and we were ready to pay, our waiter all of a sudden became attentive and ran over right away. This was all around a horrible experience, and there are so many other great seafood places to try. Please stay away...

I was really looking forward to checking this place out but it fell short of any hope or expectations I had. The wait system was solid, you check in with a QR code and wait to be contacted. It tells you how many people are ahead of you and the wait time was accurate. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy and I understand how a server could get overwhelmed. However, our server only came by once to take our first order and to offer us one refill. Otherwise, we had to flag him down for every other thing, including for our bill then later enlisting the help of another server to give him our payment. The food deliberately takes a long time to come out and cuts deeply into the 90 minute AYCE limit. The seafood boils were also extremely salty. The cocktail shrimp appetizer was only 3 pieces but they were big and juicy. I’d recommend ordering a few orders of those at a time. The crab legs were large and meaty but beware of which sauce you choose because of the salt content. There are only TVs on one side of the restaurant so only one side of the table can watch them while the other side can stare out of the windows. At the end, our server charged us for another tables check and apologized and voided it. In most situations, it would not have bothered me. But to do that after an entire night of basically ignoring us is extremely frustrating to deal with. I’ve heard the Bayside location is great and I would consider checking it out but I wouldn’t come back to this one.
