Food * Service **
We tried the Triangle Pub on a recommendation for a friend when we asked about good burger places. I'm sorry to say we (my guest and I) were disappointed.
The staff was gregarious and attentive, regularly checking on us and making sure we had what we needed, which was nice.
The burger was meh. I ordered the 12 oz. burger which was, well, it was enormous hahaha. Much bigger than I thought it'd be. That's fine, I'd eat some leftover. No big deal. But when I ordered such a large burger with cheese, I thought maybe the cheese would be more proportional to the burger. When I removed the top of the bun looking for it (I thought I'd been served a hamburger by mistake) I found a tiny slice of American melted onto the middle this saucer-sized burger. Definitely not enough cheese and barely enough to warrant the name "cheeseburger". Had I known it would be like that I most definitely would have ordered extra cheese. Live and learn.
Biting into the burger was where it was most disappointing. The meat seemed completely unseasoned, not even salt & pepper. It tasted like... nothing. I ended up pouring a small hill of ketchup and dipping the burger into it for some flavor. (No, I don't have COVID; my sense of smell and taste are intact.) I ordered it medium so it was juicy and tender, it just didn't have any real flavor or anything that brought out the natural flavor of the meat (like salt).
Now the fries, oh the fries were delicious. They were hot, crispy, and nicely seasoned. I struggled to eat half that giant burger (I really should have ordered the 6 oz. one!) but I polished off every fry on that plate because they were so good. That's why the food rating comes in higher than it probably deserves, because I really enjoyed those fries.
The soft drink cups were large, which was good. Normally we'd have to ask for refills at most places, but I left without finishing mine. Prices were reasonable and totally expected.
Would I go again? Maybe. At least I'd know to order a smaller burger, add extra cheese, and season it myself when it arrived at the table. The staff was lovely and joked with us. It was a pleasant experience let down only by the...
Read moreMy 2 friends and I went in for dinner, we all ordered the macaroni and cheese and we all deeply regret it. We also ordered an appetizer but they forgot it... The dish itself was room temperature and felt like the cheese was microwaved on top. I personally ordered it with ground beef and bacon, 3 dollars extra by the way. It came out with 4 uncut and undercooked burger Patty's on top. The bacon itself was fine, but also uncut. I also ordered a drink, pineapple juice, which actually was pretty good. This macaroni and cheese none of us finished and came out to being 16 dollars per person with that add on included. Personally I think I would find more pleasure in prison food. The food itself didn't fill me up but I still felt full after because I didn't have an appetite after. Also there were only 4 tables being served if including ours. And the check came out finally after 10 minutes despite asking at least twice. If the only thing I can say I liked about this place is the drink that is very disappointing. I regret paying money for gas just to drive over to this place, and I am now actively going out of my way to avoid this pub. This place qualifies to go on Gordon Ramsay's...
Read moreThis is a long lasting family style bistro or bar & grill type of Restaurant that's been around since before I was born. I returned here 40+ years later a few times just to see what has changed since in the 1970,s & 1980,s my late Grandparents owned this when it was "Maddens Triangle Pub" & the home of the half pound burger which back then was the only place to stop on your way out to Riverhead, the Hamptons or Montauk. It was more desolate back then & has built up a bit since then. But it still has that same comfortable local family restaurant by day or local pub to go play some pool or darts with your pals. I'm just happy to see this establishment still in business nothing majorly structurally has changed except cosmetics of course & the most important thing is that the food & the staff is very good. Friendly people makes the difference in any restaurant so I'm happy to say that the Triangle Pub is an excellent place to go visit & I gladly give them a deserved...
