Cozy Kitchen — Restaurant in Town of Caledonia

Prepare to be shocked.

My husband and I found Cozy Kitchen after taking a wrong turn. We were greeted by a friendly waitress named Barb and sipped coffee as we stripped our 6 month old son in need of a change.

A frail elderly man named Ron sat next to us and shortly after ordering was approached by a large, very direct man. The man said “Ron, who’s looking out for you”. Ron said he spoke to his son weekly and had life alert. The big man replied “that’s not enough. Do you mind if I get your number to check in on you, make sure you have enough food and such?” The big man took Ron’s name and number and put it in his mobile phone,

I’m delighted to say breakfast hit the spot- not only was it delicious ( try the pancakes with pecans and blueberries) but it was made all the more sweet finding out the caring big man was the chef and owner of the establishment.

Please patronize this business with empty tummies and full hearts.

Hmm, such an odd place. I might have rated it higher if I stayed to eat! Stopped in, 2 servers on tables. After walking by me (greeting me ! In passing... Hi how are you?)a few times, I asked if I could sit out front to eat. Server says, sure. I go out front and sit for about 8 min..no one brings a menu. So I go back in and the servers are passing by with plates, serving and clearing so I say.. "Should I order inside and carry it out front to sit?". She says "you could...I don't know how to handle it out front. I've never done it." ??? Well, ok. May I have a menu? Hands me a menu. Clears a table. So I go to the counter to order..,. If you want to be treated as if you are inconveniencing the staff with your existence then by all means this is the place for you. It's one thing for the kitchen to not read tickets, it's another entirely to double down and say that you brought out what was requested when you very clearly didn't. When service is reasonable are consistent 20%+ tippers, when it's bad we base it on # of visits to the table. Leaving us to choke down the overcooked food without any water was a particularly cruel and unusual service choice but ok. Sorry we stopped in... won't...
