County Seat Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Town of Canton

It will be quite awhile before I return to County Seat Restaraunt at Best Western University Inn. I have enjoyed going there for years, but tonight’s experience is enough of a reason for me not to return. Our waitress was extremely rude from the start as was witnessed by many both in my group and at the lounge in general, due to her actions (yelling across the restaurant). Had to ask for a drink when my glass was empty despite her taking someone else’s drink order from my table at the same time, then was glared at for asking (someone actually said to me following this exchange that the waitress clearly had an issue with me). Another in my group had a similar experience when she then had to ask for the same. Once meals came, mine was literally just shoved across the table without the waitress saying anything. Rather than waiting and bringing all 7 orders for our table out at once, they came out 1-2 at a time and someone at the table ended up waiting a significant amount of time before any food was brought to her. Even just trying to get our bills and get them paid for at the end was an ordeal. I understand that everyone has good days and bad days, sometimes things aren’t the greatest, etc, but it’s also not okay to take frustrations out on others as a result....

Ate here just tonight while on a scouting trip for a soon-to-be new home. Monday night was very slow, but that didn’t make the service dull. Our server was courteous and professional. The onion leaves appetizer was nicely fried, not heavy or greasy, with a dipping sauce that’s spicy on the back end, so I kept it while my wife had her portion without sauce and enjoyed them heartily. For entree, I had the Route 11 burger, rare, and my wife had the grilled maple chicken sandwich. Both were quite delicious having them with no alteration from the menu description.

My only holdback was that our selections from the craft cocktail menu came out with only 50% success. My wife had the mojito, which was tasty and clearly made with fresh juice, not mixer. But my margarita was quite literally water with just a hint of lime flavoring. My one downvote of this whole meal. So I’m reluctant to recommend their bartending with that...

On Thanksgiving day, our son is out at the University of Suny Canton without his family as we are in California. We could not bring him out to us this holiday, so he is there by himself and nowhere to go... we stayed at the Best western and ate at there resteraunt this year when we helped our son get settled at his new school.. The staff when we went a couple months ago was class A act to us and so humble and kind. I reached out to the resteraunt this morning 11-28-2024 for help to get my son a home cooked turkey meal and was in tears when they offered to fix him a meal and take it out to him at his school.. So blessed to get this type of love from people that are so great and love to give. A huge tank you to J.P., Sierra, and David who brought the food to my son.
