McGirk's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Town of Chenango

I’ll give it a five stars overall because it’s exactly what you expect from a pub attached to a golf course. When you sit down service is always fast and friendly and they are quick to bring you your drinks. We are always there when the place is packed so the fact that we wait a half hour for our food to arrive is fine by me. This is not a fast food restaurant don’t go there if you want to be in and out with a burger. I had the corned beef sandwich on rye. It came with coleslaw on the sandwich I was expected. The coleslaw had small medium sized pieces of cabbage And a light dressing mixed in. I consider that perfect. It was a healthy amount of corn beef. To the point where I brought half of the sandwich home. I have had the hamburger there several times. They always cook it exactly as we ask. I asked for my medium, and it comes in medium, my golf partner, orders it rare and that is not how it arrives. The burger looks like it comes out of a machine, I’ve had Bubba burgers out of the frozen section, and it looks like that. It doesn’t taste like that so I don’t know if they season it but it taste as expected. The french fries however, are a cut above. They are crispy flavorful never burnt...

I don't go to this bar often because of bad experiences there. I try to return to support local business and keep walking out saying I won't return. I tried and tried and tried and ... I'm done!

I got better customer service from the stool I sit on than I do the employees. I have walked out without eating at least two times. I feel unwelcome since I'm not a regular and get NO attention at all. I'm not a needy person at all so this is not me whining. I had my to go order thrown down in front of me and tried to pay but she walked away to talk to regulars. I'm sorry I have a life and can't be a regular but I sure as hell don't want to be a regular at a place like this. Hope someone enjoyed the meal I waited a half hour for just to see it slapped in front of me in a foam box. A Hot meal in a foam container. No thank you, keep your added chemical flavor.

EXCELLENT WINGS! They were large, perfectly cooked, and amazing with the BYKO (Blow Your Kilt Off) sauce (if you like spicy hot sauce with an abundance of flavor).

The beers were very cheap (for a bar) - Bud Light Lime bottles were only $3.00! In fact the entire menu is very reasonably priced - we had the wings and 8 beers, and the bill was under $50.00! I just ate at Hooters, had 20 wings and two tall beers, and my bill was $60+.

Our waitress was top-notch as well. She was attentive without being annoyingly interruptive, efficient, and precise. Our orders were filled exactly as requested, and nothing was forgotten.

The environment is easy-going and comfortable. When we arrived the entire venue was quite full, but we were able to get a table off to the side with no problem, and were able to converse in a normal voice despite the crowd.
