Cafe Adirondack Restaurant & Wine Room — Restaurant in Town of Chester

To start off my review we got reservations for 6:30. After waiting 40 minutes we finally got a seat, what is the point of reservations If I'm going to wait anyways. The food was absolutely amazing. Prices are super reasonable and it is a nice atmosphere. My complaints for the night was that is was very hot in the restaurant and the service I had was not that good. We waited 10 minutes for the server to come ask us what we wanted to drink. Drinks came and we ordered. To start I got the she-crab soup and my girlfriend got a salad. We waited about 20 minutes just for the soup and salad which was not a good start. The food finally came and it was amazing. I highly recommend that she-crab soup it was the highlight of my night. After our starter it only took about 10 minutes for our food to come our which was nice and also very good. The best thing about this place is the food, I had 0 complaints. I got the special of the night which was coconut shrimp that had a really good fruity-horseradish sauce to accompany it. And instead of rice I upgraded to the Chloe's fries. Both were excellent, there was so much I had to get most of it to go. The crab soup was great but it was very filling. My girlfriend got the Chloe's chicken which was also phenomenal, it was very juicy, crispy, and had the perfect amount toppings on it. We got boxes and packed up our food. When we were waiting to ask for the check we noticed that every other table was given a small basket of bread to accompany their meal. We were not given such basket. It was too late to worry about it because we were both full but it was very disappointing to see everyone else got something we did not. After that we asked for our check and I expected to be out of there in a few minutes. 15 minuets later we finally got our check, that is the longest I have ever waited to pay. If we had great service I would have easily given a 5 star review. I'm giving 3 for the fantastic food and getting rid of two for slow service. Oh my goodness! Hands down, the best meal we've had in this area, actually the best meal in a long time! I got the stuffed haddock with crab stuffing, Chloe's fries and sauteed spinach. I should've thought to take a picture right away but this was my left over. We had a special appetizer, cheesy garlic bread with sliced filet on top. It was the best garlic bread I have ever had! We all thought so! My daughter got the strip steak and scallops. The scallops were cooked perfectly and they were big! But the steak, oh the steak, it is a strip steak, however it melted in our mouths like filet mignon! It was cooked perfectly and so beautifully seasoned we didn't need to add anything. Truly an amazing dish. The she crab bisque is just to die for, the sherry comes through but isn't too overbearing and it's wonderfully creamy. You just have to try it! Service was really amazing! Our server, Tori, knew every answer to any question we had, which was so refreshing! She was also very attentive and service oriented. They serve large portions and I'm serious when I say large. We got the Chloe's fries appetizer for my grandson with added chicken. It was big enough for 3 people! Also just an fyi, if you get the Chloe fries as one of your side choices it is also a very large portion. So one person could get it and have enough to share with others then the others could get a different side. They make everything to order, including all sauces like the Bearnaise sauce which was amazing! So make sure to put enough time in your schedule to eat because it takes a little longer than usual but is so worth it! If you are in the area, do not miss this incredible restaurant! And make a reservation as they are very popular and it can be hard to get in...

We should have known to skip this place - google maps initially directly to the wrong location and when we called they had no idea what their address is. We arrived at 7pm. The entrance is deceptively around the back side. There were a group of adults waiting outside. We entered and no one was at the host station. After a few minutes, 2 teenagers showed up. When we asked about takeout, we were told that stopped at 5pm. When we asked how long a wait, we received some blank looks and um’s er’s. Finally, we were told it would be a long wait. No time length specified, no offer for a drink while we wait, nothing. They clearly did not want to seat or feed us. Left with a bad really bad feeling about this place. Turns out they close at 8pm so they really did not want to seat us – they could have said that. Good restaurants, even while busy, will offer something like a soup or salad to go. Customer service clearly does not matter to these owners or they’d hire proper staff not a bunch of inexperience High Schoolers to be front of house. As one of the only restaurants around, I guess they just don’t care.
