Staff like this is why more and more people are just going to carry-out like at Wegmans.
I stopped by on my lunch break because I absolutely love seafood. They a Sword-fish sandwich on special for $19.99. How perfect is that, swordfish is one of my favorites and it is rare to find it out. So I ordered that, and paid my $21.74 to include tax, and the staff behind the register said "Go ahead and have a seat we will bring it out to you". Proceeded to dining room where there were two other tables, both have already eaten. Between 5-10 minutes goes by and a nice pair of older gentlemen sit down two tables away from me with their soup. Within 5 minutes of them sitting down, another staff member brings out my swordfish sandwich and gives it to the gentlemen two tables away. I know this because the customer made a comment to her saying he ordered coleslaw as a side instead of fries (I had the fries). She then brought the dish back to kitchen and changed out the fries for coleslaw. Not once did she make sure it was even his order. I figure, okay another one should come out soon and I would be the only person left that they could give it too, right? NOPE!! Another 10 minutes or so later, the staff from behind the register comes out asking that same table if they had another one coming? to which the customer answered 'no'. That staff then returned to food-prep area without asking me a single question (please keep in mind I was the only one in that area without food on my table, and was there well before the older gentlemen). I wait 1-2 more minutes and I proceed to counter to point out that they had given my sandwich away. They tried handing me some sort of crab sandwich. Finally I had in hand a swordfish sandwich. The staff was apologetic at first but without any accountability. the Staff behind register offered me a desert, and had said "that's why I was trying to figure out what happened", to which I tried discussing with him several attempts which he kept cutting me off repeatedly. I get it mistakes happen (moreso nowadays as society becomes a bit laxed in their work ethic), but have some accountability. I said, 'I watched you "try" and I wouldn't call that an attempt at all, so please do not lie to me'. He repeated his initial words and I asked for a box so that I could just leave, I honestly did not even want to be around them anymore. he offered me a refund, I said "yes please" i left me sandwich because I really do not want this experience to ruin one of my favorites. He then gave me $20.74 (YES HE SHORTED ME A DOLLAR LOL). I didn't even care, I just wanted out of there. The staff is not very bright.
Anyways, I ordered Chinese food from a place closer to my office. I may try Haye's again in future, primarily because there aren't many seafood places around, but I will wait until I feel they have had ample time to teach their staff some basic...
Read moreI saw this place on a website as part of Buffalo's fish fry trail, which surprised me because I lived and went to school close to this place. I passed by it many times over the years and yet, I never went in. Last week, I went in for the first time. It was Friday, and I was in the mood for fish fry, so I came here after work with my dad and his girlfriend. Two things came to my attention when I walked in: the line of people, and the menu. I had to wait 10 to 15 minutes before I could place an order and I had to wait a half hour before the food was done. As for the menu, in my opinion, it was a seafood lover's dream. You could order your meal fried, broiled, blackened etc. I was torn between my original plan to order the fried haddock and the blackened salmon, but in the end, I ordered the fried haddock dinner. The wait was worth it, because the fish was crispy yet light, the French fries were cooked to perfection, and the tartar sauce was heavenly. I totally recommend this place for all seafood lovers, fish fry lovers and anyone who...
Read moreA couple of friends promised me "the best fish fry in town" and they did not disappoint! We arrived about 5:30 on a Friday afternoon and it was already quite busy, but we got lucky. There was a moment when more people were leaving than came in. We all ordered the fish fry with roasted potatoes and were handed a pager before going to the dining area to find a table. We quickly found a table and were greeted by the table staff, who helped us get our drinks and made us feel at home even though it was a busy evening. Not long afterwards, the pager went off and we went to get our food at the pickup area. The staff were attentive and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for our order (Cole slaw and tartar sauce mainly). We brought the food back to our table and the fish fry was delicious!! It was the best I'd had in a very long time. The fish was flaky and tender, the roasted potatoes were perfectly cooked and the Cole slaw was scrumptious. If you're looking for a great fish fry, you won't...
