I have been eating Freihofer products since I was a kid and home deliveries were made in a horse drawn wagon. Many a day my friends and I would stand outside of the Freihofer bakery in Lansingburgh, NY just to breath in the aroma of the bakery. I moved to Putnam county in the early 60s and when I would go upstate my car would be loaded with Freihofer products because they were not available at that time in Putnam county.

I am eating a sandwich on Freihofer Italian bread and I’m so sad to say the bread is tasteless. The texture is not good and parts of the crust (my favorite part other than the heel) just falls off the slices, almost like the crust was added on.
