I was very disappointed our last visit to get BBQ. Me and my fiancé end up stopping every time we drive to his lake but not this year. We stopped last week and he got a chicken dinner and I had a pound of beans a side of potatoes with four rolls. It cost us $35.00 and to start it off the lady ringing us out seemed overwhelmed - she stated the one person was 'new' and he's training so we understood. She left to answer the phone and another stepped in her place. They plated my fiancées food and put my beans on top and said 'here you go!' I looked at the lady and stated 'that's not everything.' She literally rolled her eyes at me and gave me a disgusting look as if I was 'inconveniencing' her. They placed my potatoes side on top and yet again tried to get us to take out food - I explained we were still missing my rolls and sauce on the side. The lady at the register turned her head and disacknowledged me and made the 'new' person take care of us. He gave us what we needed and was very polite but he himself seemed overwhelmed. Once we were able to sit down and eat I opened my sides. (My potatoes literally had three POTATOES IN IT?! Like I said, we were consistent and happy customers last year and this was never an issue - you recieved multiple potatoes not just three!) I was quite astonished as they didn't even fill my side of beans container up all the way as well. So I called to be fair just to clarify the prices and the lady said 'yes, you only get three that's why we kept telling you to get a dinner!' I became upset as I am a vegetarian and I'm NOT paying for something I will not eat/discard or someone else will not consume. I stated I was pretty shocked by it and that was a complete rip off $3.50 for three potatoes - I'd rather cook a whole bag at home. Not to mention the staff seemed frazzled and one employee was exclusively rude with horrible customer service!
We were true patrons to this establishment until this incident. I can honestly say that we WILL NOT be stopping at all this year and WILL NOT recommend this place to anyone. Prices need to be fixed and not for gain due to inflation, customer service needs to be worked on as well as training and they need to be more accommodating to people with...
Read moreWe go here for ice cream pretty regularly, which is always good. We tried the chicken dinner and were a little thrown off by the steep price of $14.50 per “plate.” We ordered 2 of them and were told it would be $29, I pay with my card so it goes up to $32 and change with the fee. I check my account the next day and I was charged $35. I left the tip line blank so I can only assume they tipped themselves. I did not get a copy of the receipt so there’s nothing I can do.
The portions are small. The food was pretty ok so I won’t take that away from them. It’s a shame that for two people a half pound of chicken and 4 small scoops of sides cost $35 when all is said and done. We didn’t even get the waters we asked for. Unfortunately we chose to forgo the ice cream due to the large expense of the small meal.
Needless to say, if we choose to continue to patron here, we will stick to ice cream and will only be paying in cash...
Read moreBig Dipper BBQ 2 is the place to go! They make fresh bbq every day, and it just melts in your mouth. I could eat it every day and it never gets old. The guy who cooks everything truly knows what he is doing. My go-to bbq is some pulled pork and a side of mac salad, then I mix it together. DELICIOUS!
As for the ice cream, they serve Perry's flavors and vanilla/chocolate/twist soft ice cream. They have a few signature sundaes (try the Bonfire, it is my FAVORITE). The thing I like most about their sundaes is that they put the toppings both at the bottom and the top. Other places it is only on top.
If you want good BBQ, go to Big Dipper BBQ 2 in Conklin. And enjoy it while you can - they are only open for...
