The following is a post on FB from an old colleague of mine. Is there any reason for treating her and her "service dog" with such disrespect? Do you also treat Veterans the same way with their guide dogs?
McDonald in Derby NY
Today, I met my aunt for breakfast at McDonalds in Derby, NY. My guiding eye dog was with me and just laying on the floor next to me…well behaved! He is clean, groomed and well behaved in restaurants. I am legally blind with little vision left.
I sat in a booth next to the window. There was only 1 -2 customers while I was there. The aisle was very wide! The oldest lady working there (supervisor, I think), says to me to sit in the back next time I come because my guide dog is in the aisle….but laying next to me. I pulled him tightly next to me even though…he was NOT blocking. My aunt even was shocked. The lady continued to tell me to sit in the back next time. I told her nicely, she cannot tell me where to sit, my guide dog is doing what he’s supposed to. He is not blocking the aisle and is allowed to be here. She continued to escalate. I explained the police will tell her the same thing. The lady continued escalating to a point saying, go ahead, call the police. Because she was very unpleasant, we got up calmly to leave and I explained calmly, she can easily get fired if I report it to McDonald’s corp. The young staff was saying it’s a safety issue. I’ve been through training and understand the law for guiding eye dogs. He was not blocking the pathway. The oldest lady was yelling at me saying “go ahead and get me fired…don’t ever comeback herel My aunt and I walked out with my guide dog.
I was very upset as the only 2 places for me to walk to independently, is McDonalds and Bagel place. I never had ANY issues elsewhere. I’ve been to Paneras, diners, restaurants, even this McDonalds 4 different times with my guide dog this year. I called and reported this issue to McDonalds Corporation.
I am asking for everyone to support me about this action by McDonald in Derby NY. I grew up here. The behavior of this staff was out of line as I tried to explain the American...
Read moreThe GM of this store treats her employees like garbage. My son is a senior in high school and always got stuck with 2 shifts a week, 7-10. Not a bad shift, but when all the managers trained him and then corporate came in, they told her the store procedures were being executed wrong, so she blamed my son. She is a poor leader, terrible coach and someone to never let your kids work for.
He called out due to no transportation (my wife and I were unable to take him and his car has issues) for one day. She said he would be written up. Ok, no issues. He asked me if he could quit and I of course said his decision, but sure. Its McDonald's, who cares. She had him in tears the way she treated him. Like a 2 year old trying to one up someone. She said he cant quit, he's fired (sorry, too late, he gave you his notice).
Further, the GM consistently sends people home to save costs, only to recall them because of mad rushes. This manager needs development. She has never learned how to lead, but then again, some people are just not born to lead.
A crazy place, poor and unhappy management who can't get anywhere in life. Can't even help kids who are starting out.....keep your kids away...
Read moreDrove up to the drive thru at 10:45pm Saturday. The speaker came on with a message that McDonald's was closed. I started to leave but saw people in the restaurant. I walked in and walked up to the counter and waited. There was a heavy set girl in back doing stuff. Finally after a little bit I asked if they were open, she said "Yup". I told her what happened at the drive thru and she said, "Yeah, it does that sometimes" (NOTE TO MANAGER - If this is an issue how about making a sign at the drive thru instead of losing customers????) Anyways, I ordered a Quarter Pounder and a drink. She rang me up and I paid. Right after she gave me my change I noticed the sign that showed "2 FOR $6" (I had just paid $6.59 for the one). So I asked the girl as she was walking away, " Excuse me, did I just pay more for 1 quarter pounder than if I had bought 2?" She said "Yup" as she kept walking to the back. I said " I wish you would have told me that when I ordered!" She just kept walking away without acknowledging me. I'm so mad I didn't just cancel my order and place a new order, but that's what I get for always being...
