Left before I even ordered my drink. Two guys in tank tops are going between the parking lot and the one next door telling random people they have to pay for parking. There's maybe ten cars between two lots. One fella came up to me directly after I had been parked for some time, and had just returned to my car for sunglasses. Tells me I owe him five bucks, no Mickey Rats shirt, guy doesn't say he works there, just a dude asking for money and what I'm doing and where I'm going. I ask to see a sign or something that shows this is actually something they do and not just a grift. They guy gets super mad and tells me I'm not letting him run in his #%#!!@# business, then gets in a truck and drives off. This obviously made me feel like I wasn't really dealing with an employee. I feel like if you're gonna charge for parking you should have some kind of sign up, and maybe even have someone at the parking lot entrance like a normal business and take the money at the point of entry so there's no confusion. How are people supposed to have any idea? Maybe update your Google listing so that when someone checks to see if they're being panhandled in a parking lot they can see that you charge for parking. If it's not your policy, you should have security enough that you don't have random panhandlers asking for cash in your parking lot. If it is your policy and this was an employee, manager or owner approaching me yelling "Hey guy", they should say who they are and that they work there instead of attempting to intimidate me into paying them. I'm not just handing my money to some dude because he says I owe him five bucks while other people are walking right by and not being charged. I really feel like these were scammers going through the lot because there were two of them and they were talking over the fence to each other, then they split up and one approached me. Leaving three stars because the place seemed nice and I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt that this wasn't an intentional thing. May even give it another try. Running a business is hard and you can't expect people to cover everything. I...
Read moreWent there for the first time today. They said they were dog friendly, so I took my 3 very well behaved dogs to the bar & beach. Planned on spending quite a bit of $$ at Mickey Rat's. After my first round, my 3 dogs & I went off the hot sand back to the bar to order another beer, where I was met with a "regular" patron who told me "please keep your dogs away from me. I am allergic.". Fine....EXCEPT my dogs never came within 6' of this guy and we were ALL OUTSIDE. The bartender never said anything about the rules of the bar to the patron, and I left after some "kind" words to the dude protesting. I was a bartender for over 10 yrs. The rules of the bar are the rules of the bar. The afternoon bartender should've never allowed this interaction to take place...and I will never go to Mickey Rat's again. You've lost business now. I have many friends. I hope your "regular patron" can drink as much as we do in the next few years. Btw, your bathrooms are dirtier than a highway rest stop. No excuse for that when your charging $10 to park in your parking lot.
Edit: Went to Turtle Joe's and it was much better... And right next door. Skip the rat and get...
Read moreIf i wouldve gotten a better server wudve gotten 5stars, without explanations
I was going give 1star cause i had a real bad server,
I gave 4 stars cause after i complained to the host, and complemented another waiter that took great care of the table next to me. I then recieved a better service cause they started helping the waitress i had. That gentleman young kid did a SUPER DUPER GREAT JOB ON JULY 11th he worked outdoors skinny tall kid. And still defended that waitress, he didnt throw her under the buss, he said usually shes a great waitress.
I was a waiter for 5 years. I know what is great service. The kid was magnificient, a magnet to all his tables. He should train the waitstaff
But lets say i didnt speak up, i wouldve starved or choked to death, waiting on drinks and food on a tuesday eat all you can eat crab legs. I still tipped my waitress the regular 15%
And gave the kid an extra $20
I would go again but if bad service again, will never return. I give...
