Abbott's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Town of Gates

We checked on the web site to see the hours which showed open until 8:30pm. We got there at 8:02, there were several people in line at this point. As we walked in, the girl who was working (with her back to us) yelled, "we're closed. its on the door, we close at 8". She didn't say "hi folks, sorry we are closing up" or even greet us at all. She just yelled at us as she still had a line of people. At that point we were confused because of the rudeness, and also because it says they close at 8:30 online. As we were looking at each other she muttered to herself, "Oh ok, I guess they're not leaving". I am so disgusted by the rudeness and the lack of customer service. I live in the area, and there are other places to get ice cream, like Lugia's. Probably not the best way to start the Summer season by losing customers. This was Tuesday night at 8:02 pm. Whoever was working should be fired before you lose more customers.

P.S- As we were walking out, an older gentlemen walked in and we told him they were closed. He said thanks, got into the line and proceeded to get ice cream. I guess she didn't see him or she would have verbally abused him as well.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I'll be fulfilling my frosty treat needs at other establishments from now on, and will tell everyone I know to do the same. Sorry Abbotts, you should vet your...

Absolutely great flavors, they never cease to impress me with overall taste!

Pricey as always, averaging between $7.50-$10 per person. Know that ahead of time so your not surprised.

Portions are a little skimpy for dish servings. If you are not a cone person, maybe try the pints already made. They seem to have more there than what you are served.

If you are budget conscious, with kids in tow, might be a better bet.

Pros - great overall atmosphere, taste. Cons - could have been cleaner inside where you sit with 5 employees working. Cost to portion ratio is low. Prepare your mind and wallet ahead....

Delicious homemade frozen custard. We had large servings for our single scoop cones. Nice variety of flavors to choose from which a couple changing daily. We had prompt friendly service. Samples available to taste first. Pints, cakes and other frozen novelties available. Drive thru window at this location. Milk shakes, sundaes, and a variety of toppings are on the menu too. Restaurant was cleaned. Large parking lot in front, picnic tables outside and a few tables inside for seating....
