Jim's Ground — Restaurant in Town of Gates

I don't usually write reviews on the first visit. However, I'll make an exception if the experience is truly exceptional. As we all know during Covid-19, things are especially different. The first thing I noticed is every employee in front and behind the counter were wearing gloves and masks. As I approached the counter I was greeted with cheerful and exciting voice. 2 employees helped me with my order and were very professional and courteous. I ordered a fish fry, bacon cheeseburger, and onion rings. The food was ready much quicker than expected as the place was fairly busy. Now the food ...The fish was a very generous portion and included fries, coleslaw, a very large lemon wedge, tartar sauce, and a roll with butter. The fish was thick, breaded and cooked perfectly. The cheeseburger was juicy and delicious, and the fries and onion rings were crispy and fresh and I could tell they were cooked with fresh oil which is a huge plus especially in such a busy place. Service is absolutely terrible! They 2 girls that take your order like to laugh at you and very snarky. Theylike you to remain socially distant and not get too close to the next person even though there are 2 registers. They said we can leave. This was just asking for a to go menu so my mom and aunt who are handicap could see it. They were sitting outside. They kept laughing and being extremely disrespectful. I said I wasn't leaving till I spoke with the manager. I felt racially profiled. They didn't want us getting too close to the African American family and saying social distancing. There were no signs. We are a very loving family and love everyone. She said do you get that close to everyone. Yes I do! I don't live in fear of getting sick. That was just an excuse. I was actually crying I was so upset. We did order after speaking with the manager. He was nice. If I could give zero stars for service I would. They were very rude to my dad first then I went in. Called in the order, arrived for the pickup, and the cashier (Brianna)was very polite. Gave her my name for the order, she went to get it, returned and stated the price. I asked her, "do you do military discount ?" Brianna replied "yes sir we do", and immediately followed that with, "and thank you very much for your service"! With your service discount, your total is now....! I thanked her for the discount, and the excellent customer service. We recently moved here from Washington State, and to go in to this restaurant, receive this outstanding customer service, and the food was absolutely 💯 % fantastic. With Briannas' outstanding customer service, delicious and fantastic food, my wife and I have found ourselves a great place to eat..
