Dropped in for the first time and purchased 2 slices, one Cutie Pie and a flight that had 4 very small pies. Total cost was between $45-$50 We got a combination of cherry crisp , apple crisp , apple cherry ( in picture) and lemon.
First - service was friendly and excellent. It’s a charming shop on the outskirts of town. Easy parking and lovely location. You can sit outside at one of several tables and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Yes the pies are a bit spendy, but it’s a tourist location and not out of line with what is reasonable. The pies were fresh and the ingredients taste top notch. The cherry pie slice was very flavorful and probably my first choice. It’s my husband’s favorite, but he shared a bite with me. I love apple pie and was excited to try my slice of the apple crisp pie . Though the flavor was good, the apples were far too mushy. The filling was more like thickened apple sauce than pie. I much prefer a firmer apple that is tender, but not mushy. The crumble topping was delicious though. I’ll give it that. The Cutie pie was the cherry apple and though it has a great flavor, the dome on the pie was not filled with fruit as I had anticipated. I’m sure part of the issue is the filling loses volume as it bakes, but this was rather ridiculous. The photo shows the pie cut in 1/2 with the amount of filling in the pictured half exactly as it appears in the pie. For $12 I would expect better. The apples were a little less mushy in this pie, so that was an improvement over the slice of apple crisp pie . The mini pies we got in the flight were 2 cherry crisp, 1 lemon and 1 apple. We haven’t tried the lemon and apple yet, but the cherry was quite tasty , though the crust on the bottom is a bit thick.
I don’t know that I would make a special trip from Green Bay to get their pies, but I might stop in when in door county for a flight of their mini...
Read moreI was in search of a really good piece of pie and after looking at reviews though we'd give this place a try. Disappointed to say the least. The prices were pretty high but I figured the slice would be totally worth it. My daughters got pumpkin pie and I got a slice of Larry Berry a la mode. Almost $14 later and we all agreed they were not very good. The crust had no taste and was sort of soggy, the berries had no real flavor. I expected to to have some sort of sweetness or tartness to it but it just had no distinguishable taste to it. My husband said the pumpkin pie had no real spice to it and was very bland. My daughters greatly disliked the crust and said it was soggy. I thought maybe they'd warm up my berry pie a little since it was a la mode, but they did not. It was an extra $1 something for a small scoop of ice cream. On the way out we hit up Schartner's in Egg Harbor and picked up two small pies for the price we paid for 2 slices and they were amazing. Skip Sweeties and check them...
Read moreGET IN MY BELLY!!!! We walked in and they gave us a little "crust cookie" which was a perfect way to see how good their crust is. It's a small shop with just a few pies ready. My wife wanted a cream pie (gigity) but it turns out their cream pies are by special order only (order at least a day in advance). Looking at what was in the case, we decided to get a full "apple caramel walnut" pie that had just come out of the oven. We left and had a little more shopping to do before heading back to camp. The smell from the pie was amazing and we nearly drown in our own drool before we could get back to camp. When we got back to camp, it was nearly dinner time but to hell with that, I NEEDED pie. It was still warm! The crust is crisp and delicious. The apples were a perfect mix and they were spiced just right. Now all I want to eat for the rest of our trip is this pie. I highly recommend this place, unless I'm in town (They might be sold out next time I roll...
