The place has been around for ages. Once upon a time it was decent but those days are long gone. Even still up until a few years ago if you were willing to go next door to the grocery store and buy a bottle of your own sauce you can at least get something hot to eat that didn't cost a lot of money. The owners or whoever deals with you at the counter has always made you feel like they hate you and that hasn't changed.
Had not been in a few years and out of desperation and short on time I grabbed some general tso's chicken or so I thought. Clearly the portion for the meal was about half of what I remember it just a few years ago. Same situation with the sauce but there was something really weird about the "chicken". I don't think it was actually chicken. They were these weird freezer burned tasting balls. One bite nearly turned my stomach. And I paid way too much! I want to say I paid the better part of $20 for one meal.
So over the years they went from tolerable to pretty bad to the point where they really just need to go away.
It's insulting.
Family moves to our small town to open up a little Chinese restaurant and everybody welcomes it and embraces it and spends hard earned money there. And from day one they treat you like your beneath them and an inconvenience to serve. Then to make matters worse they continually raise the prices and cut corners because they know there isn't anything else around and many of the baseball families will spend the money before they know any better. And what's it matter to the owners? They'll have made their money and then next week a new family will come to town and the cycle repeats.
I honestly don't understand how anybody spends money in there but I suppose that's my own opinion.
You were welcomed here, people. Show a little appreciation and have some respect. For a lot of us locals a dollar is hard to come by. Maybe treat people with that understanding instead of juicing the place for all its worth and laughing your way to the bank
And cash only ? I can dig it but with what's going on in there, I think the question needs to be asked:
Whatcha up...
Read moreBeen coming here a long time but stopped the price of everything nearly went up 50% and they changed the food it just seemed to be overpriced and the food cheap. But I decided to treat myself to a night off from cooking and took a chance. Bad idea. I ordered GenTso Chicken. I got home and they were basically round balls of chicken , I never had ever round balls of Gen Tso Chicken. Tasted frozen , not fresh. A couple of sprigs of greens and watery GenTso sauce . 2 orders of the bowl not the combo cost $36.00, I wasted my money which I don't have much of ! but decided to treat myself to a night, so I didn't have to cook after a long day. I feel bad I wasted $36.00 on round balls chicken called Gen Tso. Never ever in any Chinese restaurant was I ever served round frozen, tasted microwaved chicken and soaked in watery sauce and called it Gen Tso chicken. Awful. Business has dropped off there and it no wonder, I'm done going...
Read moreGood Chinese food from a strip mall in upstate New York? Yes, indeed. I get take out from China Wok a couple times a year when I'm visiting Cooperstown. Their vegetarian fare is comparable to average Chinese restaurants in Boston. The veggies are fresh and I have to say the white steamed rice is a cut above.
They're accommodating of special requests (adding tofu to a broccoli dish, for example). The food is very reasonably priced. I'm not sure I'd want to dine in the small restaurant, but it seems clean and warm when I've been in.
One thing to keep in mind is that they don't take credit or debit cards. Pricewise, they are much cheaper than I'm used to for the...
