Stopped in here after getting a delicious dose of caffeine from the wonderful Overlook Coffee. The unassuming facade of the building (complete with pay phone booth) didn't prepare me for the fresh look of the modern farmhouse interior. The juxtaposition left me saying "wow!". We were quickly seated and, while everything on the menu looked fantastic, as a Rochester native I couldn't help but land on the Breakfast Garbage Plate. The portion was massive with a bed of perfectly fried potatoes with eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage and a split open buttermilk biscuit layered on top. The meal was to be smothered in sausage gravy and hollandaise of which I asked for the hollandaise to be on the side as I always find it hit or miss when eating out. Both came on the side, which was perfect as I was able to use as much of the gravy as I'd like. The hollandaise was good, but I didn't feel like the dish needed it, so I left it off. Everything on the plate was perfect. Top 5 breakfast dishes...
Read moreWith this restaurant being the only option in a small town near us, I wish I could give it a glowing review. We tried it shortly after it opened (not good) and thought we would give it another try with their new menu. Both of us ordered the soup of the day which was lukewarm when served. I ate it as quickly as possible so as get it down before it got any worse. The side salad was OK but since there were crotons in the salad bar but not on my salad, I asked for permission to add some. We both ordered the fish. My wife's portion was as you would expect- one or two pieces of fish. Mine was 12-15 pieces with some being only breading. As with the soup, the fish was not hot. Since we were the only people in the restaurant, it is a mystery as to how the food was...
Read moreThe place is super cute. I don’t like a “diner” so definitely liked that it was cute and clean. The server was lovely. The food was ok. It felt like all Sysco items. I got eggs benedict and home fries. The potatoes were from a bag and the hollandaise was a mix. The English muffin was cold and dry and the canadian bacon was tiny. Totally edible meal but I’m just never sure why people open a restaurant if they don’t want to make homemade food. It’s cheaper and much better to just make it. I would still come back and try again.
I always rate 5 stars. Those ratings keep new people trying places and I want every small business to succeed. Overall, make the food as the nice as the place and people will drive from all over the FLX...
