I’m not one to normally post a review of a restaurant, and am usually pretty forgiving or understanding when something unexpected happens. With that being said, I had made 7pm reservations this past Saturday for 6 people (3 couples) at South of the Boarder. Our party arrived early and was told by the hostess that our table would be ready in a few minutes. Every 10 minutes I would check back with the hostess to see if there were any updates with our table, each time getting the generic “It will only be another minute”. After waiting for 40 minutes, I requested to speak to a manager about the status of our reservation. During this time period several other parties had been seated, none with reservations and similar party sizes to our own. The owner of the restaurant came over to us and took no responsibility for what happen or offered any apology. Only after we started walking out of the restaurant to find another place to eat, we were told we would be sat. I then over heard a conversation between the owner and the hostess, where the hostess told the owner that she was holding the table we were suppose to be sat at for another staff member’s family. We ended up staying at South of the Boarder to eat. We were there for approximately an hour and a half, where we spent over $300 on food and drinks. I was expecting the owner to check up on us at least one time after we were seated, however the owner never left her seat at the bar. Once we paid our bill, I requested to speak to the owner, who was now visibly intoxicated. I told the owner that we were frustrated with how we were treated earlier in the night and a simple apology could have changed our minds. The owner started becoming belligerent after I told her she would not be receiving my business in the future. The owner was acting extremely unprofessional and began to cause a commotion. Despite the negative interactions we had with the hostess and the owner, we made the best of this night out with friends. I would like to add that we had a fantastic waiter, that was both entertaining and...
Read moreLong story short, the customer service here is absolutely horrendous. Food is always great and the wait staff is excellent.
We made a reservation a week in advance for a Saturday night at 7pm. Most of the 6 person party worked in the restaurant business at one point or another so we are generally very forgiving. We arrived early and were told we would be sat soon.
After waiting approximately 45 minutes and observing a table that was seemingly ours a random group of people walked in and sat right down. We asked to speak to the manager and she was less than helpful, actually rather aloof and confrontational.
We were about to walk out but were sat down at a table. We over heard the hostess say that the table that was open for 10 minutes while we waited was being held for a waitresses family. No one at the restaurant felt it appropriate to at least apologize or offer an explanation.
We decided that we would enjoy the company and had dinner and ordered drinks. After spending over $300 at the restaurant the manager did not once come by the table but sat at the bar and enjoyed her night.
This place is at a good location and the food is always good but the customer service needs much improvement. I would recommend the other Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood that provide a better service overall than sitting here where they seemingly don't care about their customers and care more about their staff and having a few drinks at...
Read moreWe chose to come here for a long-awaited friends' reunion due to the convenient location, with proximity to our homes and once before, had decent food there. We were literally kicked out after 2 hours! Apparently they had a reservation coming in and they didn't tell us this until we were in the middle of our pitcher of margaritas and I was halfway through my top shelf margarita. Very rude hostess with a big fat attitude and chip on her shoulder. When I asked to speak to the manager, he had nothing nice to say either, telling us that we should have been done after 3 hours, meanwhile we had only been sitting there for 2 hours. We were definitely not welcome. This was not handled well at all. Will never ever walk in that door again. The food wasn't that great to begin with and definitely zero customer service. The waiter was somewhat efficient but should not have offered us another pitcher of margaritas knowing that we had to get up and leave 20 minutes later. We took the margaritas pitcher to go and thankfully someone else came to pick up my car because I was not able to drive home. Shame on them. IN ADDITION, 1 hour later, I discovered three fraudulent charges on my credit card. I do not think that this was a coincidence. DO...
