We live locally and the Corner PIAZZA is that true 'Hole in the Wall' spot to satisfy your pizza desires during the warm season, as it's seasonal - open air style. One waits all Winter for Lou to open that part back up. The Corner also has a year round clean and great place to grab a quick bite to eat.
We started going to the Corner PIAZZA immediately after the 'true brick' wood-fired oven was finished being hand built by brothers Lou & Frank. I remember driving by many times seeing them laboring with bricks & mortar to build this oven from the ground up. I also watched them tailor this outdoor spot over a few years after opening, making it functional for larger crowds and cooler weather or even rain after the metal roof came to completion.
The pizza that emerges from the oven is custom fresh gourmet. Instead of being overbearing with tomato sauce, salty, and oozing with oil, it pleasantly wakes up the taste buds with each bite, giving them the forgotten joy of identifying each ingredient before having to reluctantly swallow. Lou creates your pie personally, using many fresh ingredients right from his own garden. Sitting outdoors on the patio, they artfully constructed as well, makes it the perfect atmosphere vs being cooped up inside some hot pizzeria.
In speaking with Lou this evening, it's been 7 years since he started crafting his pies. I was shocked how the quickly the years flew. It's a pleasure to see how he grew this word of mouth business over these years. Anytime we go there, we see at least one couple or group of people that make the trek from far away to satisfy their PIAZZA craving.
I'm originally from New Haven, Ct, so I grew up on Pepe's renowned pizza and was friends with the son of Sally's Pizza owners a few doors down from Pepe's. For many, many years, they have both been visited by Food Critics and written up over and over in food magazines of the past and now social media. During the summer, they both have lines stretching down the block with a wait of two hours to get inside to eat their famous thin crust wood-fired brick oven pies.
The Corner PIAZZA pizza is not like the above two legendary marvels, but one cannot compare. Lou makes a different type of a dough which has a virgin fresh flavor. I categorize this to be in the class of a gourmet pizza that you get at boutique pizza restaurants. If you want an ordinary pizza, or heavens forbid a pizza like poor souls buy from those chains I won't even mention, then you're going to be disappointed. If you want something with a special flair for a change of pace, then make the trip here to try this pie.
As somewhat of a pizza afficionado, I'm telling you that you'll be surprised. Actually, be prepared, because I can almost gurantee you'll be hooked like the others who make long trips here just for this truly unique style of gourmet wood-fired brick oven pizza. You better try it before everyone else eventually finds out about it and lines start forming down the road. Maybe we'll see you...

Wish he cared about our community rather then other communities like Port Jervis,Milford, and Care about the town of Highland who, made you the money and made you become who you are if it was not for the people in the town of Highland or Lumber Land The Corner would not have any business we are just given money to someone who does not truly care about anyone, just making money . Yes a business is a business is a business you, need to make money, but when your own community is out of power and good for over a week then over charge them as "regular customers" at least give them a brake during the hard times we all have to endure Despicable to make a profit off people's misery... Read moreThe soft serve ice cream itself was fine, but I will not be returning to The Corner. On March 24, 2019 at around 6pm, my husband and I each ordered a small vanilla with rainbow sprinkles - his in a cup, mine a cone; came to a whopping $7.24, ouch. I regret my choice of the cone because it was the most stale cone I have ever eaten. Also, the woman behind the counter simply spooned out the sprinkles and dropped them on the ice cream as if she had hopes that the least amount of sprinkles would stick. I was utterly disappointed. I've worked in an ice cream shop and the proper way to apply sprinkles is to dip the cone into the sprinkles, fully coating the ice cream. There were so many "bald spots," not like the traditional cone I've grown to love. It's like she did everything she could to save (not even) 10 cents. I'm so angry I paid extra for the sprinkles. Additionally, the sprinkles were visibly old; the colors were faded and also...
