I think what the owners are working to do for the community and this business is very respectable. The space itself looks wonderful, and the owners seem genuinely kind. This review is not a reflection of them, but rather of our personal experience during one visit, not all.
This weekend, My husband and I came in for a dinner date — after 17+ years together and raising two kids, we don’t often get the chance to dress up be flirty and eat alone at a sit down but have been making it a point. The menu is very broad, though due to my dietary restrictions (no bread or pasta), I have fewer options anywhere I go. We took a little extra time to order, but eventually settled on a side salad, & shrimp (for me), fried pickles, and a burger with fries (for him).
Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent. My husband decided he wanted a specialty drink after we ordered, but our server didn’t return until after our food had been delivered. I had to ask the person bringing out our food for help with the drink. When our server eventually came back, she explained she was busy with a large party, which I understand happens, but she had been checking on other tables in the same room without ever stopping by ours. & i clearly overheard her say that someone else would need to take our table after i appologized to the lady delivering our food for asking her for the drink since i hadnt seen my server , so that was disappointing.
The food itself was fine overall. My shrimp was initially forgotten i had to ask for that as well so it was brought separately after his food and my side salad. Most of the shrimp were well-seasoned, but one piece was extremely spicy — so much so that it seemed like the seasoning had been over-poured. My husband, who enjoys spice, confirmed it was unusually hot compared to the rest that had no spicy when i asked him to finish it. Fortunately shrimp takes a whole 30 seconds to cook on a hot enough surface so it wasnt a long wait. I suspect the rush after forgetting is why the one shrimp wasn't consistent with the others🔥 no big but when your only able to eat very little (4 shrimp and maybe half a side sald) definitely a tad disappointing that alone would not have ruined the exsperience for me.
That said, there were definite highlights: the rest of the staff we encountered were all very kind, attentive, and welcoming. We were sat pretty quickly. The woman delivering was busy but kind and attentive. The bartender in particular made an excellent specialty drink for my husband.
We still left a generous tip because I recognize that one individual’s actions don’t reflect the whole team. The restaurant itself has a lot going for it — a beautiful space, community-focused owners, and staff who are clearly dedicated. I truly believe with some more consistency in service, this will continue to be a great spot for the area. & have high hopes that when i return again i will be able to update with a much...

Read moreMy husband got the Big Pig and I got the Joe and Jay’s Q platter. The platter had just enough left overs (steamy hot garlic salt potatoes, pulled pork, and sweet potato fries) to take to school tomorrow. The bandit beans were delicious and the brisket was scrumptious. Bartenders were great. Seeing Joey here where we first started years ago and meeting Jay was great. Great owners. Personable. Friendly atmosphere. Remember to always tip your waitresses regardless. Also if you do not like something, do not eat the meal. Immediately ask for the owner. Not everybody’s taste of bbq or seasoned steak is going to be to your liking and that is okay. Let them know. If you eat the meal and then complain then you still pay for it. For the lady that gave 2 stars and did not even tip your little waitress, you got your food. You said a side dish was not hot enough to where they brought it out 2 more times to you and then with a thermometer. Then you know what you said at the end to the owner. Disgusting and Rude. For a bill that high, it is hard for me to believe you did not have any refills or touched your meat that you then went home weighed it🤦🏻♀️. I hope you think about the experience you gave to the owners and the little waitress. An apology...
