Finally a Mexican restaurant in Hornell!! This building was the old Country Kitchen on Seneca and a new owner has arrived. The outside is still familiar and the interior decor is basically the same with the addition of sombreros and some festive cultural decor. But that wasn't the best thing!! Familiar tastes arrived on my plate of Arroz Con Camarones. I haven't had rice and shrimp this flavorful and spot on seasoning in a long time. I'm very happy to see the crew in La Cocina working quickly and serving dish after wonderful dish through the window behind the counter. This is authentic Mexican food and I'm sure will be around quite awhile!! Welcome to Hornell!

First time going, was so happy to see a non pizza/ burger place in the area. Don't get me wrong we all love pizza and burgers, but we like all kinds of food. Prices were on par with other Mexican restaurants we've been too. Portions were decent sized and tasty. I almost forgot to take pictures we were so eager to dig in to the delicious meal. My granddaughters both want to go back!! They have asked every day since we went. Staff was friendly and on point with checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. A definite must try if you haven't been yet. Dessert was meh, but I'm super picky about my cheesecake, wouldn't recommend that bit.

We recently moved to this area and this was our first time in this restaurant. Finding a mexican restaurant in Hornell was bit of a surprise in the first place and it turned out to be a good one! Being a true admirer of mexican food, this was an amazing experience. Food, price, portion size, staff.... everything was on point. Like most of the other Mexican restaurants we have been to, they serve you complimentary nachos and salsa which were freshly made. Then we ordered Chicken Enchilada Verde and Chicken Quesadilla. Both were fresh and tasted amazing. The ambience was nice as well. In a nutshell, worth every penny and second!

This review will be pretty long because this place is an absolute mess. They just recently opened, so there were definitely some lowered expectations, but our - and everyone's around us - visit was a disaster. There is no uniform for any of the staff, and the kitchen is so unorganized that the mother of one of the waiters was volunteering her time to the restaurant. None of the staff had uniforms, most simply in jeans and t-shirts or other casualwear, and all of them were very young (which in and of itself is not an issue). The food took a little over an hour and a half to get out, and when it did the waiters didn't know what was what, and having some of our orders be on multiple plates, we needed to get another menu to figure out what was whose. When we asked for a menu one of the waiters responded with something along the lines of "Listen guys, there's like 40 people here, we can't do ** about all of this." After we got our food, we needed to reorder parts of our meals multiple times. Our appetizer didn't come out until after we all got our entrees, and the staff was so unorganized it was made twice. It was very evident that the wait staff was never trained. The waiter we had was very polite, however extremely disheveled and painfully unfamiliar with the menu. Writing down full names of all of the items, including the prices of each item, simply ordering our food took longer than it should have. The food was okay, I would give it about a 3/5, however with the one rude waiter, the long wait time, the ridiculously unorganized staff, and the archaic method of checkout that they had, this business deserves no more than a 1/5. It became very evident that the kitchen did not communicate with the wait staff. There was a significant language barrier between the wait staff and the kitchen staff, but that is no excuse. The managers of this establishment did absolutely nothing to help their wait staff prepare for work, nor did they do much preparation before opening. No staff uniform, no staff training, leaning on volunteers, trifold printer paper menus with un-numbered items, and no means of breaching the language barrier that plagued everyone's visit are all massive indicators that the owners of this business should have reconsidered their desire to open this restaurant as they are evidently unprepared to deal with the difficulties of running said restaurant and the logistics of managing a...

Went on Saturday night and they were busy, understandably so. We were patient with them, knowing they had just opened and many of their servers had never served a day in their lives and didn’t have any sort of training. It took over an hour and a half for our food to be ready, we still had to ask for different parts of our meals because they weren’t brought out to us, had to ask what they were, and didn’t receive our appetizer until after we were finished with our meals. We had 3 different servers bringing out our food, one of which was not ready to deal with the public on a busy night. A lady approached the section we were seated in and announced that she didn’t work there but was helping them because of how unorganized they were. They said there is a language barrier between the kitchen staff and the servers. Understandable, but 100% something that needs to be taken care of before opening. It seemed no one knew what was on the menu or what any of the food was, and it was pretty overwhelming to see so many things on the menu in such small print. When we did finally get our food, some of it was cold, and some of it was soggy from sitting in the sauce on the plate and completely fell apart when trying to eat it. If you order the right things, I would say they are reasonably priced, but it will be a good while before we go back to try the other things they have. They are not ready to be open and need to focus on...

From 5 to 2 stars. I used to love this place, but on my last visit I had terrible customer service by the waitress. The Google page shows "open until 9 pm", so we went around 8:30 pm, it was a last-minute meal decision, we asked if we could come in, and they said yes, we ordered fast and ate fast, but the attitude of the waitress was SO RUDE. She clearly didn't like us coming into the restaurant, she was all the time with an angry-looking face, then she started talking on the phone saying "I can't leave until they go", then she was on the phone a second time saying "they are still here" and she was looking so irritated and mad. We were finishing our dinner and the lights on our table "magically came off", she was the whole time with that passive aggression, so rude, and then smiling and being there on top of the register machine when I was going to pay, so I felt pressured to leave a tip that she clearly didn't deserve. One single person is ruining the reputation of the place, the food is delicious, they have good cooks and the lady at the register machine is nice, but unfortunately we're not coming back if the serving staff is going to be like that. The previous waitresses/waiters were so much better, showing manners and respect. If you don't want people showing up past 8:00 pm just change your business hours and turn off the...
