Honestly, I’m really disappointed with how this place is run. From the moment we walked in, the energy was off. My group and I came in friendly and polite — “Hi! Good morning! How are you?” — and got nothing back. No smile, no welcome, just a flat “How many people?”
We said “eight,” and the host looked instantly tired and unenthusiastic. It was still morning! Was it really that bad for a group of people to come in after church to enjoy breakfast together?
The diner looks nice in the front, but they seated us all the way in the back, where it felt like a plain storage room — four walls, a ceiling, lots of tables and chairs, and zero charm. The front had open space, but for some reason, we were placed in the back. At first, we brushed it off. But then we noticed something that didn’t sit right — the only other groups seated in the back were non-white, like us. That made the whole situation feel even worse.
The service didn’t improve. We waited around 45 minutes just to place our order. When the server came by, we said clearly, “Just water for now, we’re ready to order our food.” They didn’t even acknowledge us — just dropped off the waters and walked away.
When the food finally came, it was terrible. I ordered steak and eggs (medium) and got an overcooked steak and one scrambled egg. That was it.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere might be nice if you’re sitting up front — but if you’re not white, don’t expect the same treatment. Save yourself the frustration and order...
Read moreThe visit to Selena’s was mainly for lunch after a group tour, based on one member’s recommendation. Since there were around 20 people in the group, seats were reserved in a private room. The staff were very helpful, and among the halal options, the Tuna Sub sandwich seemed the safest choice. There were also some vegetarian items available. Those who ordered omelets specifically requested that ham and bacon be excluded, and the person serving food reassured them that those ingredients would not be used. Speaking of the food, the Tuna Sub with fries tasted great,(added Tomatoes & lettuce) and the tomato ketchup & cos law enhanced the flavor even more. Many people also enjoyed the seafood items, especially the fried calamari, which was crispy and delicious (though it’s best to double-check whether it’s fried in beer batter). Overall, the restaurant was quite busy during lunchtime, and although it was a bit chaotic, conversations went smoothly. Since there was some leftover food, it was packed to take home. Most likely, when there’s a large group (15 or more people), a 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill.along with the...
Read moreThis was a quaint little place, tucked away in the catskills near Kaaterskill falls. Only one other party there when my friends and I arrived and sat down. A small diner, with definitely an old school feel: if someone told me the place stood for the last 40-50 years, I wouldnt question it.
Food was to be expected for this type of place (I come from the Diner capital of the world, so I know). They serve a little bit of literally everything, but specialize in classics like burgers, fries, tenders, greek food, sandwiches, soups etc. They have a small stone oven for pizza as well. Quality was...what you expect also. Not horrible, but nothing to write home about.
Only issue we had was when ordering tea, 2 of 3 us got it piping hot, and 1 was cold. Apparently an issue with the hot plate? Not sure. Bill was around 50 bucks for all 3 of us (3 entrees, shared fries and 2 soups and 3 teas) so standard.
If youre looking for semi cheap diner food, this spot is as good as any. When you come right off the Trails, you wont...
