Long Island Waterfront Dining Guide: Ocean Views & Sunset Spots!

Well, many bartenders waiters and waitresses at other fine establishments have suggested this place once they have gotten to knoe me. I won't mention there names here. Let me preference this review by acnologing that all of the food service establishments are having a very difficult time now balancing quality and price in these times of unprecedented cost increases. From cost of product to cost to delivery. This owner/chef is doing a pretty good job of it. The lobster biscue. A little to watered down but still packed with flavor. Not sure how he's able to do it. I would suggest a quart less water, or better substitute a quart of water with white wine and charge a dollar more per serving. The saffron mussels, I have difficulty trying to improve on it, but will try. Again packed with flavor but obviously a little extra water to, as my mother used to say "stretch the soup". There is an expense connected to this meal. If you eat to live and prefer shoving white castle sliders down your throut, do not come here. You will only be disappointed and post a bad review. If you live to eat, give it a try. The chef knows what he's doing. The atmosphere is great, even better as the summer progresses.

Fatfish is located in a unique corner overlooking the Great South Bay, my friend and I sat in the enclosed outdoor area; which felt like basically sitting in the Bay! The parking lot directly there is terrible, so I recommend you part in the larger parking lot and then take a stroll/walk or get dropped off etc. The place itself is clean and inviting, the food options are amazing and we decided to just share some appetizers, they also have Malbec which is great for me! Our waitress was very attentive and prompt even when we clearly didn’t need anything, but I appreciate her attention. The restroom was clean and handicap accessible which is always a plus. The location for me just makes me uneasy, I know taking a whole business elsewhere makes no sense but it’s more accessible for those who truly appreciate the bay…on this day it was a bit cloudy but I would recommend for a nice lunch to anyone.

Ordered the grouper special Saturday night and Confidently started eating it. I noticed I couldn’t cut it right, than thinking back I noticed the pieces before were a bit chewy. Now looking at my plate the fish wasn’t cooked and raw in the middle. The waiter came over and noticed it saying sorry they didn’t properly cook it and quickly took my plate away. He did ask me if I wanted something else to eat, but now I started feeling sick. He gave me the bill, only credited me the one meal. I was there with another couple. With four meals, appetizers and many drinks. He definitely could’ve made a better proposal, especially after ruining my night. Feeling sick I just paid the bill and left. I would never leave a bad review. All he had to do was approach me professionally even offer to pay for one of the rounds of drinks and this review would have never happened. I know and understand nobody and nothing is perfect but they are in a customer service business. They could have treated me better after realizing their screwup and making me sick. I’ve been there before always thought the place was nice, great view and good ambience, but I will never go back not when their attitude and service is conducted in this manner after a customer left not feeling well knowing they did it. Also ending my night at CVS purchasing $25 worth of...

Slightly over priced and living on it old reputation.

Staff: Professional, and friendly. Thank you everyone.

Great view, with a clean relaxed environment

Food: For the price point we expected better and have had better from Fat Fish Food quality recently has seemed to fall off.

The Bread simply put lacked any kind of character, the crust and crumb were unremarkable and there was no flavor. As if the ran to the store and grabbed what ever was left.

Apps: The Mahi and Steak skewers were over cooked, Crab cakes I would recommend if you like crab cakes. NO BREAD! :-)

Dinner: Had to send the steak back it was over also over cooked then when we we got the second steak the sauce was overpowering and was all over the plate that's just too much. The fettichini sause was a bit (salty and sweet like it was out of a can) and the shrimp were chewy and tough.

Same for the shrimp in the two dishes. The shrimp were well season and would have been good just tough and chewey.

Drinks: Every one enjoyed, it would be nice to have a wider selection of tequilas.

Normally the food is good there. Not sure what is going on this year weather is the cook, the person sourcing the food etc.... it's not what it used to be.

For now I'll stick to the bar and some of the better Apps. Like the crab...

My server was Jorden. I asked for a gin and tonic I waited till past the food I ordered came. NOT HER FAULT. As far as I know. I ordered the starter Mediterranean seafood salad which was supposed to have calimari, pulpo shrimp mussels. And a mix of red peppers and olive oil. What I got delivered to my table. Was a slash of 2 pieces of pulpo mussels so small I wasn’t sure what they were. Calimari a few pieces and some shrimp. No olive oil none a wash of some salty water no bread or crackers. To dip into the oil and enjoy the seafood like they do in Spain . So so disappointing!!!! Then I ordered the battered fish sandwich. I got French fries all over the plate. I picked around the sandwich it was a presentation I would not serve my worst friend. I asked for gin and tonic with house gin. I was served 2 gin and tonic’s with Grey Whale 🐳 gin. At $15 dollars each. The atmosphere sucked $30 for 2 drinks is insane. I will never go back. I go home and I had stomach aches and I skipped eating dinner. My stomach was killing me. So I don’t know if it was the seafood salad or fish sandwich but something was bad . Never again. I left a tip it wasn’t the servers fault. But I won’t be back. So take what I say and think about this place. Good...
