Locust Avenue Deli — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Talk about a fall from grace! This deli has THE WORST customer service and quality control I have ever experienced, anywhere. We used to live around the block(and my wife still works near by), so we were customers for years. But the past few months, they have just fallen apart. We have even had conversations with them about it, and begged them to double check the orders before delivering. If you order for pickup, they almost certainly wont even start your order until you get there. If you order for delivery, triple their delivery time estimate and you still probably wont have food....you will more than likely have to call them to remind them to send it out. And when you get your food, guaranteed something is either missing or totally wrong. We even sent a kid to pick up our food the other day, and when the girl noticed it was the wrong order, the jackass argued with her that it was right and made her take it. Of course it was the wrong order and we had to go back. The only plus side to this place is IF you ever get your food, and IF it's what you even ordered, their food is good.

Yesterday was the final straw...I called up to order lunch for a few of us, and had to wait 5 minutes while the person whop answered found a pen. Then after placing the order, making him repeat it, explaining our recent bad experiences and asking him to please double check the order before sending it. He said no problem, they will deliver in 30-35 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later, I called to ask about the food.....they hadnt even sent it yet. And as usual, when the food got there, there were things missing and other things completely wrong, even though the order was clearly written on the receipt that came with the order. All said and done, it was 2 hours to get all our food, my wife missed her opportunity to eat, and had to work all day in the heat without...

UPDATE * I was contacted by the owner and he was genuinely concerned & told me to ask for him by name should I encounter any problems. I explained that I appreciated his effort & I will give them another go because I love their Fireman Wrap that much!! TY Russell I have been coming to this deli for lunch as my job moved out here 2 years ago. I really love this deli and their grilled chicken wrap with mozzarella and peppers is yummy. My issue started 2 visits ago with a new woman behind the counter. She started to ring me up and we had a disagreement with the cost of the sandwich. When I confronted her, she walked away to confirm my claim and never came back, just left me... Someone else had to ring me up. Ok, a couple weeks later I went again for the exact same lunch order and again, she came to ring me up. I had already asked the time before the correct price of the sandwich but when she rang me up it was wrong. I told her the correction, she looked right at me and said... "ok". She kept ringing the rest, when I drove back to work I thought it seemed too much so I sat in the car and totaled it up only to confirm it WAS wrong. I got to my desk and after I realized my balsamic was missing which makes the whole sandwich and the coleslaw was busted open all over the bag contents bc she never bothered to wrap it like they've all done dozens of times before. I was so aggravated that my lunch was now ruined I private messaged them explaining what happened with a copy of the receipt. Well that was a week ago and no one ever got back to me.... Nothing. I am so bummed that after 2 years of loyalty I realize I'm nothing more than another wallet that cha chings through their doors. I have my choice of a dozen deli's in the area so, I'll be bringing my "wallet" to...

Edit: I was really impressed with the way Russ reached out to address my concerns. I understand that it can be difficult at times to ensure consistent product and quality control, it happens. But what sets them apart is that they really cared that something wrong and were committed to righting the situation with class and concern. I went back in today and Russ treated me to a DELICIOUS Texas Melt! The cutlets were the perfect combination of crispy and juicy and the dressing and cheese were not overpowering. Great service and great food. Thank you Locust Avenue Deli!

I have ordered from here multiple times and have never been dissatisfied. Today the sandwich I received was INEDIBLE. I ordered the Texas Melt and it looked like it was made 2 days ago and sat in the case until I unfortunately ordered it online. The chicken was GREY and the bread was hard as a ROCK. I called the deli twice this afternoon and no answer. What a disappointment. 2 stars because at least the second panini we...
