First off, allow me to just say that if you are in search of an elegant, fancy-schmancy italian restaurant with high brow prices, then Mama’s is probably not going to be what you are looking for. But I will take Mama’s every single time! Mama’s is just your everyday garden variety pizzeria with a cute dining area on one side. Set in a small strip mall named “LaSalle Commons” on Montauk Highway in Oakdale, Mama’s has been serving up big portions of delicious authentic Italian food for more than 50 years at what many may consider to be by today’s standards, bargain basement prices. Nothing really jumps out at you on Mama’s menu; but it impossible to have a bad meal here no matter what you happen to crave that day. Whenever my wife and I go to Mama’s, we always try to request “Christie” as our server; Christie is a world class server, everything a server should be: ultra-friendly, super attentive, and super efficient. But a great server does not necessarily make a restaurant great. At Mama’s, you can almost literally taste the love that goes into each dish. You simply don’t stick around for 50 plus years unless you are doing something right; it appears that Mama’s is doing...
Read moreI have been going to Mama's for years and they are just top notch. Just tonight I went there to pick up my catering order for my wife's birthday and there was a miscommunication with the order. I thought I ordered a tray of eggplant parm and when I got home, it was chicken parm. My wife is a vegetarian and this is one of her favorite dishes. With very little time before the party, I went back and in a timely fashion they had a tray of eggplant ready for me. They told me to keep the chicken parm tray on the house and I even tried to pay them for it and they wouldn't accept the money. They just wished my wife a happy birthday. These guys sure know how to cook, and run a business. I will continue to be a customer for life. In this world of lackluster customer service, this was an experience that could have been terrible, but instead made our day....

This place needs to be staffed better, we waited for over 90 minutes to get food for two people (two plates of pasta without meat or anything fancy) and the whole time it seems as though the entire dining room was being managed by a singular waitress.
Food was not worth the wait, the salad we got was clearly unwashed lettuce, and the Alfredo we ordered was basically inedible.
our server was really helpful and friendly the entire time and seemed as though she was doing her best, but the bottom line is that it was just way too much for one person. I hope and pray that they were short because someone called out, and that there isn’t normally a lack of...
