Frosty Joe's — Restaurant in Town of Kirkwood

Brought my oldest daughter here after a tough day of 11th grade for her. Getting her lil cup of soft vanilla ice-cream in a cup with rainbow sprinkles immediately put a smile on her face after finishing up her History regents. I got a toasted coconut cone. Side story: older guy. Scruffy. Looks like he had a hard day at work. Had a 'Vet' hat on. Bought his cone and as he walked away, all the ice cream fell to the ground. He went back to the window, waited patiently in line which gave me a little time to gather $5 out of my wallet to give him for a new cone. He came back to me a few minutes later with the $5, said they gave him one - no charge. Told him to keep the five, his next one was on me...'Thank you for your service, Sir.' Yeah...someone gave me a 'You did a really nice thing' however kudos to Frosty Joe's for doing their part. They could have easily said, 'Well, thats not our fault' or charged him for a new one or charged him half-priced for a new one... They made it right for him and they gained a repeat customer, perhaps two (hopefully the Vet...

I visit often. Sometimes I don't really know what I want until I start seeing all these different flavors and then I really don't know what I want. One of the last times I went I decided to get a toasted coconut ice cream shake. Then I decided I wanted a banana split but with all toasted coconut ice cream. The gentleman who is always working there (super nice mature gentleman) helped me create one of the best splits I've ever had! Add shredded coconut, pineapple, cherries, and of course some nuts and maybe some strawberry sauce, and you have a BANGER! I like it in a big cup with whip cream added! Its excellent. I used to love this place. However, the last 3 visits have been less than pleasant. I always get hard ice cream and have been disappointed with the quality of hardness. I asked the employee if their ice cream was melty after 2 previous less than ideal visits and they assured me that the ice cream wasn't soft or melty. As I received my ice cream, it was already melting down the cone and on my hand, again. This wasn't even on a particularly hot day. I'm not sure if their freezers are not up to the task these days or if their establishment needs A/C. I heed caution to hard ice cream lovers looking to have a satisfying bite into delicious...
