Mexican food is often our go-to take-out. We called Cinco de Mayo for the first time with a $60 pre-dinner hour take-out order. Price-wise came to about 1/3 higher than what we normally would pay. Nonetheless, the phone order went very smoothly more so than I'm accustomed to. At pickup, despite the restaurant being mostly empty the staff was "can't talk to you" busy and seemed borderline confused. Got home and the bag was packed with the heaviest item on top and as a result, leaked all over everything else and the car despite being kept straight up for the car ride. Two large orders were carried out of the kitchen together so I suspect the spill happen then. The steak fajita order was missing tortillas. Called they admitted the error but didn't offer a resolution! Oh well isn't a response. This is your business and customers realize mistakes are made but you need to be able to recover. The steak wasn't trimmed well and had more grizzle than I'm accustomed to. The Flautaus and Chimichangas we burned on the ends, most likely for culinary effect. See Flautus picture. However, it made the ends "teeth cracking hard" they were inedible. The yellow rice wasn't our favorite; very plain and seemed to be mixed with frozen peas and carrots. Even my 18 you that eats everything gave it the thumbs done. With so many excellent local choices we'll pass on this is one...
Read moreWent to dinner here on a quiet rainy Sunday visiting my in-laws in Poughkeepsie. We usually go to a lot of Mexican restaurants in Massachusetts and Connecticut and Cinco de Mayo is in the running for best we have been to. Beef chalupas were delicious with tender shreds of beef and super fresh produce. Fajita portions are enormous and fresh with plenty of meat included. The guacamole here is unmatched, absolutely packed with fresh flavors. Our server had a lot going on with some minor renovations taking place but did a great job of providing service with an A+ attitude. Cinco de Mayo definitely earned our continued business in the future. Keep up...
Read moreI've been coming to this restaurant ever since we moved up here for a few years now and out of all the Mexican restaurants in Dutchess County this restaurant is our favorite. I only wish more people would find out about this hidden gem. Antonio Knows what he is doing, the place is pretty, very clean and the food is excellent. Most if not all of the mexican restaurants serve almost the same menus, I would hope that this restaurant continues to tweek their menu and add new items, would like to see octopus and calamari incorporated into the menu. Always a great experience. Please give...
