Don’t bother. Really. We tried to go in on a Thursday night and it was closed at 9, and doing takeout only dues to staffing issues. But it was advertising regular hours over the weekend. So we rolled up at 9:15 on Friday night. We walked in, and it was pretty empty. So it was very noticeable that people who were obviously the local regulars, nursing full drinks, were staring at us like the scene in ‘An American Werewolf in London’ where the two lost American hikers walk into ‘The Slaughtered Lamb’. None of the bar staff said anything to us, but after we looked around for a bit and eventually tried to sit down, a sour-faced woman came over and told us they were closed. I tried to point out that there was a large sign outside saying they were open until 11. She muttered something about ‘late night’ starting at 9. Before I could request clarification, my girlfriend, who had already picked up on the unwelcoming negative vibes, was heading for the door. As we left, I noticed that someone had chalked under the opening hours in small letters “@9 late night’, which probably means nothing to most people. I Googled “late night in a bar”, and the best explanation I could find was some kind of ‘after party’. So it looks like it was what we call in the UK a ‘lock-in’, a private party after regular hours for friends and regulars. Judging by how few people were there, they don’t have many of either, unsurprisingly. They don’t seem interested in making money, as they didn’t care for our custom. So they probably wouldn’t care that in addition to the food and drinks we didn’t get to buy last night, we won’t be going back today as intended to watch football with friends and eat and drink for hours. As this is the only bar in town, it’s probably wise to give the whole of Aurora a miss and stay in one of the hundreds of vibrant, welcoming small communities around the...
Read moreFirst time here. Nice young gentleman was waiting outside at the top of the stairs by the Entrance to the restaurant. Walked and seated on the back patio and he was very polite. Here's where it gets a little set back. The waitress/ gentleman failed to set the table with food utensils as well as napkins. The waitress was probably new but hey, learning experience. Drinks (Water) were served before taking our order but did not receive any straws, okay maybe she forgot them. Ordered an alcoholic beverage (The Berry Patch) it was yummy but for the size of the drink; it was Not worth $8. The Griiled Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries and pickle was really good. The garden salad was alright for the portion. The Lemon Shots were tasty yet strong. The Tropical Jello Shots, not my cup of tea unless you like Coconut. Loaded Tater-Tots were yummy towards the outside yet becoming soggy once towards the center due to all the bacon and cheese Smothering the center. Came with a side of white sauce that gave it the extra zing it needed. The Burger-American with a side of fries a pickle was yummy and filling. The meat was cooked perfectly. The Pulled Pork Melt with fries and a pickle was too shredded (Pork) even though the sandwich contained pineapple slaw. Lastly, received check and when it came time to sign there was no pen to use. Luckily I always make sure to pack one just incase. Drinks (Soft) were Not Included with the Sandwiches and Fries. In the end,...
Read moreWe arrived and was not greeted officially by the Hostess but stated for 2 we don't have anything outside just inside then the Manager appeared out the door, so the hostess asked if there were any tables available (a hostess job is to access availability). However, the manager seated us in an area of 3 empty tables now that odd to me. This place was recommended to me because of the Burger and Chicken sandwiches but they had a Friday haddock special, and I had to try it. Well, it was Specially Over cooked Fried haddock that was extremely Crispy to the point that it was curled up almost into a circle and the fries were under cooked. My wife said her burger was fine. Before leaving I ordered an appetizer (Buffalo Wings) to go for the little one at home. Which was literally brought to the table by a kitchen staff person. This could have been brought out with the check that came 5-8 min later. I don't complain at restaurants after working 10 years in one instead I use REVIEWS AND SURVEYS. Where I worked a waitress would never bring bad plates of food to a table, they are an advocate for the patron, oh well additionally there was a posted sign read Apps half price until 6pm. Well, I was charged full price must have missed what time it was??? Was...
