Update in response to restaurant : wow, are you really trying to damage my credibility here? Lol. Definitely feels a little stalky. I did try 4 different tacos its not often you like everything and its even more rare that everything you try is bad. FYI, I ordered food to go for my wife (at the time of ordering, which you should remember since you seem to have a photographic memory of me eating there) and she also said it was disgusting and wouldn’t eat it, nor would my kids. Disappointing you would attack me personally. You definitely didn’t check on me three times.. what did you want me to say “this food is terrible can you change your whole approach?” And obviously you don’t get it but chipotle sauce is generic in practice, thats why they have it at subway and low quality establishments everywhere, just like yours.
From 2 stars down to 1 ——
I was really hopeful this place would be great but the flavor just isn’t up to par, especially at the price. I lived in LA for many years so I am used to a certain style and NY just really struggles to pull it off.
The only chicken offering is chipotle which was the first warning. The salsas were weird - mango habenero was like a jelly? Verde was a cream sauce? They even have a oil hot sauce like at asian restaurants?
Everything has the thick creamy sauce that I find typical in the North East so maybe you all will love it. The corn tortillas are very good but everything else was off. Even the horchata was off. Totally flavorless except for the large splatter of cinnamon. I can’t recall ever throwing away one with anything left in it.. also first time a large horchata cost less than a chicken taco
I would rate it well below taco project, similar to Tipsy Tacos. For reference Los Tacos #1 in NYC is excellent and what you should expect at this price point. If you truly want authentic, El Chulito in CT is your only option
The service and people are great and they have a nice diverse menu but I still take Salsa Fresca over anything I have eaten to date in Westchester...
Read moreBeen here many times and always had a good experience. However, due to two specific instances, I'm forced to give this restaurant the low rating.
Service here has always been excellent and the young man at the register is always kind and helpful. Utensils, eating area, etc. has always been very clean as well.
A few weeks back, I dined here with my partner and ordered the carne asada bowl (which I have ordered many times). I was served steak that was beyond rare and also very fatty and tough--it was overall inedible and I questioned whether or not I would end up having a stomachache from the condition of it.
Last Saturday, we decided to dine here again and order something different from our usual. We ate the exact same appetizers, type of meat, etc. My partner and I had food poisoning...We are sure it was due to eating here, because we had not been together prior and this was the first/only meal we had shared together (mind you, we ate the exact same things). We reached out to the restaurant 5 days ago via email to inform them of this, as this is a serious food safety concern, and we saw plenty of others dining in there around the same time as us. Unfortunately, we have yet to hear back.
I am very disappointed, as this was an enjoyable, new spot we had dined at multiple times prior. However, after these two instances, I would not be...
Read moreThis was our first visit and WOW, we really enjoyed. We came based on the recommendation from a post on Facebook Westchester Foodies and so glad we did. We ordered two margaritas that were great… the homemade Tajin around the Rim was a nice addition. I was happy to see a full bar with lots of options. The Tortilla Soup was Amazing and the Tacos were Perfect! Al Pastor, Chorizo and Baja Chicken… all great when paired with the Mango Habanero sauce. The Service was spot on - even though it’s counter service, we received table side check-ins. The small thing I appreciated was the lighting was turned down at night to make the restaurant more inviting. Don’t be confused driving up, it may appear closed- it’s not, they turned down the fluorescent or LED bulbs to make it more intimate. For us, Taconah Cantina will be our go to for a fast, fresh and delicious meal. Thanks to Steve at Westchester Foodies Facebook page for the recommendation AND good luck to the owners, being a local business owner myself - CertaPro Painters of Westchester and Southern CT - I know how to run a customer 1st business that delivers on our promise - this place...
