Waterfront is a sort of blink and you may miss it restaurant located a little north of Sister Bay. It's neatly tucked in between a condo and a Mexican restaurant, but the food and ambiance suggest anything but being a hide away. Their seafood and fish offerings are on par with some of the heavy hitters to the south in Milwaukee or even Chicago and I especially enjoyed the service and the pacing of the meal. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and even asked how we liked our food brought our, which was nice. I highly, highly recommend both the tomato and seafood soups (bisque). Oh my, my mouth is watering just mentioning these two. The roasted tomato really stood out here, but the fried phyllo dough wrapped around the goat cheese really added that extra punch. The seafood bisque was delectably smooth and had just the right hint of umami with that background of lobster and crab flavor. I used the sourdough to soak up the leftovers... oh so good! We also truly enjoyed the shrimp with the grits... although so creamy and unctuous, I would liken them to polenta or risotto! Our entrees were well thought out with the scallops being the best choice here. The brown butter was a great compliment to the seared scallops and really added some flavor depth. I also truly loved the pesto risotto. Dessert was a chocolate fudge mousse and I didn't quite understand how small it was until I dove into and realized... it was the perfect size for how decadent and luxurious this was. It truly was a deep chocolate fudge mousse... you couldn't have too much or it would certainly overwhelm! I would recommend this restaurant for travelers to Door County. It certainly ranks up there in terms of seafood...
Read moreMy husband and I always come up to Door County every October with three other couples and this year for our girl’s night out, we wanted to try a new restaurant! Everything from our drinks to our small plates to our main entrees was absolutely delicious! And you can NOT beat the view! The only reason I am not doing five stars is because we had a bit of a hiccup with the reservation experience. I called at the beginning of September to book our table for 6:00 p.m. and at the end of the phone call, the hostess (or whoever she was) suggested that if we’d like to see the sunset, we should arrive by 5:45. I thanked her for the suggestion and hung up. Fast forward to the evening we went out and the day got away from us, so we ended up walking in right at 6:00. When I told the hostess my name she says: “Oh I have you down for an arrival of 5:30-5:45 and when you didn’t arrive, we gave your table away.” It wasn’t that big of an issue because they were still able to seat us. I just don’t understand why she would have changed my reservation time when I specifically asked for 6:00 p.m. And also, she took my phone number down when I made the reservation, so why didn’t she call to confirm if we were still coming? I don’t know. The whole experience with her was super strange and I think there needs to be better practices in place for this. But all in all, we...
Read moreThis past weekend, a group of five of us had a fantastic meal at the waterfront restaurant. Our service was exceptional about our team members, but our server Kaya, was especially wonderful. we all started our meals with beverages. I personally had the pea’s knees mocktail, and it was really good. Not too sweet and really very satisfying .One of the specials (salmon) that was the appetizer was so good, as were the other appetizers and salad (The Burrata salad is what we had and it was very good). We all ordered the exact same meal, which was their current pasta on the menu. It was an herbaceous pappardelle pasta with a lemon whipped feta. It was by far the best pasta dish. I’ve had a restaurant in years. The pasta was perfectly made. The sauce delicious in the whipped feta, just elevated it even more. We also indulged with dessert and again had one of the best crème brûlée I’ve ever had (I am not a crème brûlée fan) And a slice of the carrot cake which had some hints of brown butter in it it was just divine. Be sure to go outside and take a look at the water. If you’re not at a waterfront table, the sunset is stunning. Be sure to make a reservation however they do take walk-ins if there’s availability. Don’t miss a chance to dine in here! It was...
