Came here after a trip to a few wineries. The farm to table approach is a love of ours so we were very excited to try this place out in the middle of suburban NY. Coming from north jersey, right outside the city, we don't have many places like around Milton NY. Ambiance is great, quant little spot with nice decor. We didn't have to wait to sit which was nice.
Our food was pretty good. The onion soup is not worth it but the special mushroom soup was great along with the frites we ordered. The dinner and wine was also good.
Our down fall and the reason we would not return unfortunately is because of the waitress. The assistants were on point but the main waitress wasn't. They lady we had was very nice, and did try to act reasonable, but it was apparent she was on some type of drug substance. She was all over, kept forgetting what she said and did, was spaced out and definitely was not acting appropriately. It was very sad because this place is a lovely spot with great grounds and we really had high hopes but she had us quite upset. Coming from a deceased mother who was addicted to drugs, this really set me off. I watched her patterns and attitude quite similar to the upbringing I had with my mother so I was on edge the entire dinner and my heart hurt for this girl. She was a friendly young lady, but she needs help. We also let the manager know we were quite worked up about our waitress and suggested he find her help before she harms herself or anyone else. He seemed a bit too cool about it and comped us the wine, but we weren't looking for a comp. We really want someone to help this girl, as I wish someone stepped in and tried with my mom more than myself and my entire family already did.
Overall, good food and ambiance but the whole waitress situation really set us off and the table next to us agreed as well. Because of this, we...
Read moreThis was a really nice restaurant but something is now seriously wrong here. We had a reservation for four and were seated when we arrived. Tried to order drinks but the bar has no blender, no peach or pear liqueur to make a Bellini, and a weak selection of wines by the glass. So, moving on, we placed our orders for three beet salads and one Caesar salad. Shortly after, the Caesar salad was delivered alone. It took another 15 minutes (measured on the clock) for the other salads to appear. After our salads, our entrees arrived. One of us ordered the Lobster Ravioli and it looked and was delicious. Two of us ordered the Delmonico Steak cooked medium - both steaks arrived RAW. No, not rare but raw! We sent them back and when they returned, one was rare and the other was still essentially raw. To make it worse, close to half the steak was fat. Horrible! Finally, my wife ordered the Cioppino. Looked at the detailed list of ingredients on the menu but when it arrived, they decided to add a huge amount of Calamari, mixed into the pasta and sauce. As my wife does not eat Calamari, this was a dilemma. She agreed to pick out the other seafood as long as they would bring another bowl of pasta with sauce. Of course, this came with a totally different and spicy sauce so she picked at it but was not pleased. They did offer to buy us dessert and they did take my steak off the bill but it was still a horrible dinner for all four of us. I do not know what happened here but it has really slid downhill. For the prices they charge (not cheap by any means), they need to do better. I mean really, even I can grill steaks and get them done medium. The restaurant was fairly empty for a Saturday night and I guess we are not the only people that...
Read moreWe were visiting Poughkeepsie, NY. West Point, Hyde Park, and the Culinary Institute of America. As well as the Pedestrian Bridge over the Hudson River. Settled-in at the Hilton Hotel, and I was chosen to pick a restaurant for dinner. Surfing the internet in for area restaurants, I noticed a advertisement in a brochure in the room. And it was about a twenty-minute drive from the Hotel. Restaurant parking was a bit of a debacle. And noticed a plethora of ducks, which coincidentally was on the menu. The dining room is located on the second floor. Staff, has to carry meals up a stairwell, which might now be a elevator. The staff is extremely courteous and very knowledgeable of the menu. We started with a Trout latke appetizer. It was too beautiful to consume. We spent several minutes taking pictures. Two of us had steaks, perfectly cooked. My mother, had a Salmon dish, that had a eye-popping plate presentation and the taste was definitely fresh, not frozen. The vegetables accompanying each entrees was also accompanied by fresh vegetables. The atmosphere was quiet even though the dining area was packed with guests at six p.m. Always enjoy a restaurant where you don't have to hear other tables. So when visiting Poughkeepsie, NY check-out Henry's At The Farm. It is well worth a lunch and/or dinner. And if stressed-out, there is an immaculate spa you can receive a buttermilk body scrub, that'll make ya feel a decade younger in...
