Country Pride is a chain restaurant in the TA truck stop. We dined here on a Monday evening at 8p. We wanted a quick stop for food before getting back on the road. We ordered waters, chicken-fried steak with a baked potato and green beans, and smothered steer burger with tater tots and broccoli. At 8p, they put all their soups away, and they were out of French fries.
The server was fast as we sat ourselves and ordered our water. Then it took her a few moments to come back and get our order, and then our food took (not kidding) 30 minutes to come out. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so we don't get why it took so long- once again we thought it would be fast since it was a truck stop and wanted to get back on the road.
Once we got our food, the smothered steer burger, with a description of "half-pound chopped steak, mushrooms, grilled onions and beef gravy" does not come with burger buns. It was in the steak and fish section, but called a burger so we were a little annoyed about that. It was okay, and was made "pink" as we asked. The tater tots were double fried and very tasty. The broccoli was a great portion of the plate which we appreciated.
The chicken-fried steak is beef, deep fried with a fried chicken coating. It was okay, lets of "air" between the meat and the breading. The baked potato was very good, served with butter and sour cream. The green beans were crunchy just as I like them.
Each dish is served with garlic bread (if you want to call it that). It was more like Texas Toast, and was kind of sweet. Not the normal garlic bread I would think.
When the waitress had delivered our food, she also brought the check, which I was thankful for. However, I put my card down so she would come back to check on us, and take it so we could leave when we wanted to- but she never came back to check in on us. When we went up to her to pay, she said sorry that she was in the back doing the dishes. She then asked well did you like everything was everything okay? And we just wanted to get out of there so we said yes.
I wouldn't come back to this location, or to be honest any of their other locations again.

Read moreVery disappointed in the service. I specifically requested that my toast be made last so it got to my table hot. The server insisted that it always is made last and not to worry. It came out cold and hard as a rock. She never came back to check if our food was good. After our meal was finished she finally came and asked how everything was. I told he the toast came out cold and if you came back to check I would have requested another. But now that I am finished I dont want to. Also we had a requested that the bill be separated when we placed the order so we can earn our meal rewards. She did not separate the bill or have a pen to add the numbers to the bill for the rewards. I don't think I am coming back here. I wasnt asking for alot. Oh and the food was very bland. I ordered the California omelette wish has checken seasoned with Arizona (hot sauce) sauce but I had to add salt and pepper just to eat it. I never add salt to my plates. The omelette looked mike a...

New owner since I was there last but they definitely didn't drop the ball.
One day I ordered the trucker special breakfast sandwich which is an egg sandwich with ham, bacon, sausage and egg of course.
At first I was disappointed because it was served on a hero roll. From my experience, a breakfast sandwich on a hero is always thin and lacking.
But to my surprise it was perfectly loaded up and delicious.
If I had to say anything negative, they should advertise on the menu that it comes on a hero. Only because it might be just too much for some people.
And, or, offer a choice between a hero and a hard roll.
Other than that, they have many home made dishes to choose from and no matter your choice, they are...
