TRULY DISAPPOINTED! I'VE STAYED IN 1 STAR HOTELS & OBSCURE ROAD SIDE MOTELS WHICH WERE 10X'S BETTER THAN THIS PLACE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUPER 8 OF THE 1970'S THAT I PROUDLY WORKED FOR AND LOOKED FORWARD TO STAYING AT, BUT THIS PLACE WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT A TOTAL DISGRACE! THE 1ST ROOM THEY PUT ME IN THE DOOR DIDN'T LOCK CORRECTLY BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY KICKED IN, THE BATHROOM WASN'T CLEANED, THE RUGS WERE NOT VACUUMED, NO MICROWAVE OR FRIDGE OR WORKING TV OR HANGERS AND NO HAND TOWELS. THE 2ND ROOM WAS CLEAN LINEN AND TOWELS BIT NO HAND TOWELS SO I WAS GIVEN BATH MATS" TO USE AS HAND TOWELS.(ALL THAT THEY HAD). THE PHONE WORKED FOR THE FIRST DAY OF MY 3 DAY STAY AND I GOT MY 8AM WAKE UP CALL AT 3:15AM AND NEVER AGAIN... I BELIEVE BECAUSE I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT AND MY PHONE WAS SHUT OFF!!! I LEFT A DO NOT DISTURB ON MY DOOR YET EVERY TIME I CAME BACK MY AC UNIT WAS TURNED OFF AND MY ROOM WAS HUMID AND MILDEW SMELLY... THERE WAS NO SECURITY ON THE GROUNDS AND OUTSIDE MY WINDOW, WHICH FACED THE BACK OF BUILDING, THERE WERE YOUNG PEOPLE DRINKING AND SMOKING AND CARRYING ON TILL 3/4 AM. THAT WAS WHEN I FOUND OUT THE NEXT DAY THAT STATE AID PEOPLE STAY THERE AT A DISCOUNTED RATE BY THE WEEK AND MONTH WHEN I WENT TO BREAKFAST AND PEOPLE WERE IN THIS SMALL ROOM, BARELY DRESSED, NO SHOES, SOME JUST DIRTY SOCKS, 4 SMALL TABLES, 1- 2 SLICE TOASTER, 20 PEOPLE. IT WAS HORRIBLE, A CRAMPED SPACE, NOT ENOUGH FOOD FOR 10 AT A TIME AND MORE COMING DOWN THE HALLWAY. IT WAS A BIG JOKE THEIR "FULL BREAKFAST"!!! I WAS TOLD FOR THE PRICE I PAID FOR MY 3 NIGHT STAY THERE, IF I WAS 1 OF THE STATE AID PEOPLE, I COULD HAVE STAYED FOR 2 AND A HALF WEEKS, QUITE POSSIBLY 3 WEEKS, BECAUSE I'M A SINGLE DISABLED SENIOR. AND BECAUSE OF THIS FACT, IT TOOK ME 7 MONTHS TO SAVE UP FOR THIS TRIP. ALL SO I COULD GO TO MY 45TH H.S. REUNION. THE ONLY ONE I'VE EVER ATTENDED, BECAUSE I HAD A BRUSH WITH DEATH THIS YEAR AND I REALIZED THAT IT'S NOW OR NEVER. I WILL NEVER STAY IN A SUPER 8 AGAIN WITHOUT AT LEAST 10 PEOPLE GIVING IT A 5STAR RATING AND I WILL NEVER STAY IN THIS ONE AGAIN. I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT ABOUT WHAT I CONSIDERED"MY MOTEL" I ALWAYS FELT LIKE I WAS THERE FROM IT'S DOORS OPENING... SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF WHEN IT CAME TO MAYBROOK/MONTGOMERY AREA EXIT 5 I84! YOU'VE...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE!!! First red flag after checking in was the worn, dirty carpet leading to the hallway. The smell of cigarettes permeated the place in spite of the hotel being billed as a non-smoking facility. The first room had mold and some other unidentifiable stain on the bathroom walls, and the sink faucet was not functioning properly so trying to find the spot that gives hot or warm water was a challenge. On the plus side, there's a wall mounted bottle opener.
The tired and worn dresser was missing a drawer. The chair was stained and had some crusty stuff on it.
I opened the room window, and when I tried to close it, it fell completely out of the frame.
The carpet... oh God, the carpet. It was full of debris all over as though it hadn't been vacuumed. In between the beds was some chunky, dried vomit looking stuff. The entire floor of the whole space was sticky.
This place has a lot of people who live here full time, and apparently they treat the rooms with the disdain of transients.
The general manager, Sharon, was delightful and helpful. She moved us from the first dumpy room to a second room which was cleaner, but still in much need of FULL renovation. The toilet didn't flush properly. The microwave was littered with old food splatter on the inside.
The mini-fridge was cold, the coffee maker made hot water. Location was convenient. But none of that matters.
The housekeeper with whom I spoke was friendly and helpful.
The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, toaster waffles and toast. Coffee and hot water were also available but get there early.
The random drunk couple roaming the hall trying to gain entry to our room was troublesome. Apparently, the female was really mad at the man and they commenced a loud and profane argument in the hall. She abandoned him and when I went out to talk to the desk girl, he approached me asking if I would go buy him beer, or if he could come in to our room to "talk". Uuuuuuhhhmmm, NO!
If I could have, I would have left to find another hotel, but I simply didn't have time to find another...
Read moreAh yes! The notorious Super 8, where all the things you thought couldn't happen, indeed happen. To clarify, we only stayed here because my team's tournament is only 10 minutes away, in addition, it was cheap. Other than that, there is nothing good about this place. We booked three different rooms since we had multiple teammates staying, one team caught a roach and named it (before they could even get fully in the room) ! Another teamate walked into a room with everything trashed and not cleaned up after. We think someone is just living there. Since our teamate did the common thing and went to talk about it, they said "well, we don't have anyone to clean it, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow." Luckly we had space in another room for him to stay. The service here is beyond impeccable with no staff, terrible smelling hallways, and rooms that is probably a step-down from a prison cell. There is no place like a Super 8, so if you are debating whether you should save money and cheap out on this place, by all means do it... if you don't mind the chance of bed bugs, roaches, rooms not cleaned, staff who are unwilling to help, and possibility of getting stuck talking to drunk man Tom outside. If that ain't your type of environment. Save up and go somewhere else. My guess, many of the reviews with 5 stars are not legitimate. If you find yourself being forced to go here. Here is what to bring; trash bags (for pillows, they don't clean it my guess), extra sheets&blankets, clothes you don't care about, less expensive belongings, and leave your dignity it's not worth brining...
