I am still shaking my head at the high reviews for this place. This place is in a 1972 time warp and I don't think it has been cleaned since 1972. When you enter there is a table set for the wait staff, where they spend a lot of their time eating in public view as customers are walking by. Everything looks old and dirty, the carpet, the chairs, the tables, and try not to look up as the ceiling tiles are full of dust. The menu is littered with junk. It is astonishing that a little destination spot in wine country cannot offer a decent meal for a good value, and giant portions of the fish fry is not what I'm referring to. One item on the menu doesn't have meat so I got that. It was supposed to be a veggie wrap, but it was more like an iceberg lettuce wrap with brown lettuce and parts of the core. The sandwich came with 20 little french fries which turned out to be the best part of the meal. We asked for hot sauce and what they brought was an expired bottle of Frank's that was already turning brown. The older woman serving us had this constant hack every time she talked. Never covered her mouth. There is plenty of parking but the parking lot is full of potholes. This little destination town needs to up their game and demand better, you deserve it. Unfortunately, Subway is a far better value than Redwood Restaurant and we will not be returning. One star because the waitress took the veggie wrap...
Read moreWe arrived at the Redwood at 7:00 Sunday evening. Closing time is 8:00. We'd not been there before. No other customers were in the dining room. Several men were talking quietly in the adjacent coffee shop. We were warmly welcomed by Mina, the only waitress on duty, and seated at a nice table. Mina brought us beverages, bread, and menus, then told us of the day's specials and explained all dinners include the salad bar. My wife ordered the chicken 'n' biscuits special; I chose the broiled haddock. The salad bar was a surprise: it was fully stocked with FRESH lettuce, two soups, six dressings ... and everything you'd expect to find on a nice salad bar at the start of business on a Sunday, yet this was at 7:30 in the evening! The rest of our evening continued our pleasant experience. Our entrees were delivered in a timely manner and were excellently prepared. Mina engaged us in enjoyable conversation yet didn't interrupt us while we were eating. After dinner we returned to our rented cabin in the hills overlooking Canandaigua Lake, enjoying even more our first evening near the small town of Naples, New York. I'd heard about the Redwood on the radio as far back as the 1970s, yet had never stopped there -- even though we'd passed through Naples several times each year while driving through the Bristol Hills. We'll definitely go back when the autumn colors are in their brilliance. I...
Read moreWanted to really like this place but the food we were served was not good. The waitress was very sweet and great which is why I’m giving 3 stars. Ordered the special which was open faced prime rib sandwich, got my kid some chicken fingers and my partner not the haddock sandwich. The prime rib looked horrible but also was tough and had 0 flavor and they served it on one intact piece of toast, and another piece of toast cut into two. Just big chunks of weird flavorless meat on toast. The chicken tenders were hard and dark brown, and the fries also tasted like fryer oil so it’s obvious that the oil hasnt been changed or fryers cleaned in some time. Thankfully the waitress took the prime rib sandwich off our bill. Maybe it was a bad day for the kitchen, maybe we’ll try it...
