We were excited to have a new spot in town. This place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately fails to live up to it. It is still new, and I hope it will improve.
The decor is tasteful (though some might take issue with the large TV above the bar) and the atmosphere was lively. There was a good crowd (without being overcrowded) at the bar and the place felt busy.
Unfortunately, the food quality could not match the pricing. It was ok at best and may have been reasonable at a significantly lower price point. The buffalo cauliflower bites were the best thing we tasted, but they weren’t close to being the best buffalo cauliflower bites I’ve had—it’s a shame they are served with ranch dressing only (blue cheese not an option) and they could stand to be a little buffalo-flavored/hotter. The $55 steak was the biggest disappointment: while it was cooked correctly, it was very tough; it came served with just a naked baked potato and a little bowl of butter. I probably wouldn’t order it again even if it was $35, but I don’t think it should cost much more than that. The oysters were mostly fine, though the waitstaff was unable to tell us which oysters were which (we ordered three different kinds).
The waitstaff, while polite and relatively efficient, lacked good knowledge of the food.
In conclusion, this may be a good place to get a drink, or at least a cocktail (unfortunately we didn’t order any cocktails). However, the draft beer list is comically bad: all big mass production breweries at inflated prices—nothing local, interesting, or unusual. Perhaps as a result of that, we didn’t see a single beer being served on tap the entire time we were there.
I hope these are just growing pains and that the place can improve. I probably won’t be going back—at least to eat—unless (and until) a friend gives it a ringing...
Read moreWell I really hoped to like this restaurant as my mother lives in Chappaqua- the restaurant is very pretty inside, but we had a very lukewarm experience with the food, and relatively awful with regards to service. I am a person who eats out regularly, and this is the first time I have been to a high end restaurant that offers you nothing before your appetizer. No bread, no breadsticks, nothing. We were all ( 4 of us) drinking wine on empty stomachs, waiting the 30 minutes for our appetizers to come out. When we asked for bread, they reacted somewhat confused but then said it was in the oven. 10 minutes later we did get a nice bread basket, but we were charged for it- $5. I have never experienced this anywhere before. Next 2 appetizers came out, and if was a full 7 minutes until the other 2 followed. Awkwardness persisted as half our party waited to begin eating. The same thing happened with our entrees, 2 came out and 2 did not, with a substantial wait in between. My mothers Salmon dinner was so cold it had to be sent back. Bia is an expensive restaurant, with filet mignon closing in at about $59. The filet was a 3 inch tall and 3 inch wide piece, about half the size you would expect at a restaurant. 2 of us had the filet, and agreed it did not taste any better than the supermarket variety, and was actually very difficult to cut- hard to say if their steak knives are just that bad, or the steak was that tough- but it was not tender by any means. After this very " we don't really know what we are doing", dinner, we opted to leave without attempting dessert. Truly dissapointing regarding service and quality of food for the very high prices. We...
Read moreWe were so excited to be going to a new restaurant in chappaqua. The restaurant is designed beautifully and has a great vibe to it This was a Friday night and it was very busy, which was great to see We had a great WAITRESS Casey, who attended to us very well The highlight of the meal where the spring rolls which were very good. The flatbreads were made on premade crust and were really not very good. The hamburger and halibut my friends were having looked good. But I was really disappointed that my steak was served cold and seemed tough for $55. Since I didn’t want to keep the whole party waiting for another steak, I just ordered a salad. Unfortunately, the wedge salad that they served was overdressed terribly, and it was almost inedible. The desserts were fair at best.
I would’ve expected the restaurant to given the salad free of charge or something to offset the disappointment with the steak. And when we mention something to the matre de on the way out, he Didn’t seem to moved by our experience.
So for ambience great, But for hospitality, you left me with a really poor opinion, and I would not go back. When we were with her planning a party there and decided against it after...
