WOW - hidden gem that I wish was in my backyard. We were traveling through the southern tier and looking for a local place with a kitchen open later where we could relax and also enjoy a drink with our meal. The reviews on this place lived up to the hype! Nestled in a historic train station in the smallest and quietest of towns, we weren’t 100% sure that we had made the right decision when we approached the doors. But we were quickly reassured as we stepped inside and were greeted by a friend staff and casual yet cozy atmosphere. The local beer list was impressive and we enjoyed everything we tried - both on draft and in cans. But the real star of the show is the menu. At first glance it’s your normal fried food list that you’d expect at a bar. But what’s happening in the kitchen is magical. We started with a half order of wings, which were also on sale. WOW. Large, perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside but so juicy and tender on the inside. Melt in your mouth with a perfect golden BBQ sauce and homemade ranch, which was outstanding. I tried the half order of a Philly cheese steak salad and was blown away by how fresh and plentiful it was! I’ve never had such a good salad let alone at a bar. My husband ordered the chicken Philly sandwich and it was overflowing with fresh chicken and veggies, on a plump toasted bun and a generous portion of very fresh and tasty curly fries. Simply amazing! We cannot overstate how welcoming and kind the staff was and how the food was a cut above. I wish more bars could operate at this level - offer great food at great prices all while extending a casual and welcoming atmosphere. We’ll seek this place out again the next time we travel this way. In the meantime, if you’re reading this, I hope that...
Read moreHad one of their signature burgers [the "Yellowstone"] and it was great. Nice shot of bbq sauce over a couple crispy onion rings and some delicious (caramelized?) jalapeños, along with some bacon! A really inspired stacking of flavors. Burger was done to perfect level of medium rare. Had a great conversation with our waitress (Emmy) who made us very welcome and filled us in on the history of both the old train station building and the family of Long time restauranteurs and hospitality professionals that own the Shed. It will definitely be on our rotation of great places to grab a delicious meal.
adding onto my previous review for my most recent visit today: Get the Peach Pie Wings! Amazing as an appetizer. My salad was huge, the chicken speedie chunks on it were perfection (as you would expect this close to the birthplace of speedies) and the highlight was ... Mallory! Our waitress. So personable, attentive,...
Read moreA very cool little historical spot that offered more than your typical bar fare. We had Philly cheese steaks that were delicious and the portion size was great for the price. I can't ever resist a fried pickle and they did not disappoint! If I had to guess their ranch is homemade and yummy! The bartender was super nice and even gave us a little tour to show us all the great old sections in the place that they've renovated and restored. If you're headed to the casino, skip the buffet and head here. Idk if they do Open Mic every Sunday but that was happening when we were in. We'll...
