I stumbled upon an a local influencer's video highlighting this place and I decided to stop in. Don't be fooled; while the address says "white plains" I'd say this place is actually located in North White Plains. You'll find El Artesano Empanads in the Sir John Plaza next to Violetta Nails.
While tiny, they offer some outside seating along with two high top tables inside. Guys...the food was DELICIOUS. I ordered their viral steak sandwich, churros, and of course, their empanadas.
The steak sandwich was INCREDIBLE. I intended to share it with my fiancé however he's not eating bacon and they were not able to make a sandwich without it (Which was not a problem for me, so I was happy to this sandwich all to myself ). Expert tip: add cheese. It was incredibly flavorful and seasoned perfectly! For the empanadas I decided to get a box of 6, as they have SO MANY FLAVORS! We chose the spinach, chicken, beef and caprese (special). All were delicious and we were given a yummy chipotle and chimichurri sauce to dip. $ of course we had to get dessert; so we got the churros that were served with a chocolate and dulce de leche sauce. INCREDIBLE!!
The lady who took my order was kind and helpful as I navigated all the choices. I am so happy I found this little gem so close to my house! I will definitely...
Read moreGrabbed 2 empanadas: one beef, and one chorizo & cheese. The chorizo & cheese tasted good, but the filling was kind of blended into mush, so you couldn't really tell it was chorizo any more. The beef was far better...really, really good, perfect textures, great flavor with a nice bit of heat. The problem with the place, though, is the pricing. The empanadas are about as big as my fist and are $5 each. They have a lunch combo that includes 3 empanadas, a side of rice, and sauce; the sign doesn't mention a drink, and after tax, this combo is a whopping $19. I balked at the prospect of a $19 lunch, so I just grabbed the 2 empanadas that I did. Unfortunately I was still hungry after eating them and had to have something else. Based solely on that, I can't recommend this place. I understand that the price of everything has gone up, but $19 for lunch is too much. Maybe if the empanadas were $4 and the lunch combo was $13 I could justify it, but until and unless they lower their prices, I won't...
Read moreWas really excited when I found out about this place. The first time I saw an Artesano Empanada was when I visited Spain a few months ago and was expecting this place to be the same. Not idea of the taste of food because didn’t even have the opportunity to try it. Got there and the system was down (normal, those things happen) I was waiting when this couple came in and ordered ahead of me when I was waiting and the cashier didn’t even ask me if I wanted something, I let it go. Then another couple walked in and the guy comes out again (same guy) and asked this new people for their order while I’m still standing there. Horrible customer service, food can be really “good” but service was really...
