We've gone there twice now. Overall it a really good value but a very uneven experience. The first time turned out to be their Mexican theme night I had a burger Rose had a burrito. My burger was delicious and Rose said the burrito was great both were large and satisfying they don't have a regular french fry option only waffle fries or a fry with some sort of seasoning I'm not a fan of waffle fries so I had the seasoned fries they were sort of okay. Overall we enjoyed the food and knew we would come back to try the fish fry. The service on our stop was very good it wasn't too busy so a bartender, waitress and helper was plenty the food was fast hot and good the bar service was excellent drinks were a nice full pour and no problems getting refills. There was an additional interesting aspect to the Mexican theme the music being played was Mexican and while I didn't understand a word of the songs it was a nice change the rhythm and tempo were bright and easy to listen to.

Our next visit was a Friday to try the fish fry. The Friday visit was very much different than our other visit I'll get to that problem later. Starting with the food review I had the codfather a 4 piece cod dinner while Rose had the shrimp my fish was excellent I would rate it right up there with the best I've had the breading was lightly seasoned fried to a golden brown with a nice little crunch but not over done the fish was firm and flaky like cod should be nice and moist without a hint of being greasy in fact from start to finish from piping hot to the last cooler pieces it never got greasy as a lot of fried cod tends to do as it cools. Giving the fish fry a 5 stars. Rose said her shrimp was wonderful a lighty seasoned batter fried golden brown on nice extra large shrimp with a great cocktail sauce with a nice sharpness without overwhelming the shrimp. Rose didn't enjoy the seasoned fries anymore than I did so she substituted veggies for fries and was very pleased with her meal. Now for the part of the review that went from 5 stars to 2. Our Friday visits exelent food experience was marred by the service we arrived sat at the bar waited a good 10 minutes before being greeted we were told it was busy (that much was obvious) and so was the fact they were woefully understaffed she left menus and she said she would be with us soon. After another near 10 minute wait she took our drink order and within a few minutes returned with our drinks and took our food order. We were a little surprised by the food arriving sooner than expected considering the lack of service up to that point. As stated the food was great but we were never talked to or served anything after the initial order I went and located salt, pepper and condiments on my own as we seemed to be completely forgotten. When it came to to leave it took almost 10 minutes to catch the bartender to pay. Now granted it was busy the bartender, the waitress and the helper were going non stop. That's no excuse that is the choice of the establishment to have that level of staffing everyone knows Friday in Wisconsin is their busy night and you don't staff like you do on a slow Monday. Hell we never got a second drink and it wasn't for lack of trying I tried to catch the lone bartender multiple times with no luck. They could have easily used 3 bartenders but had only1 the waitress finally started pulling her own drinks. We loved the food but I'm not sure we'll be back. My husband and I went there on 4/1/22.. our 1st time..not impressed 😕 when you walk in, there is no hostess or a sign that tells you to see hostess to " get your name on the list". Well, we saw a couple we know, whom were eating at a table, I asked them what are we supposed to do? Sit at an open table or see a hostess.. they said to tell the bartender that we'd like to put our name on " the list". Then a minute later the hostess came by us and asked if we'd like a table, then she put our name on the list. Ok, all good... til we're sitting at bar an hour... literally watching people walk in and proceeded to sit at any empty table ( without seeing hostess or asking bartender about seating) VERY annoying.. we ended up sitting by a nice couple that are from the " area", they said they were waiting 1 1/2 hours!! They also noticed people coming in and taking it upon themselves to sit at an open table. Well, they went to discuss with hostess... after a few minutes hostess came back and said their table was ready... they said no thanks n left to go somewhere else. We ended up ordering at bar/ ate at bar. My husband and I did not think fish tasted like MJ Stevens or Hitching Post ( like the menu claims.. same family recipe etc..) was pretty blah.. tarter sauce was homemade, but was sweet.. didn't care for that. Coleslaw was good, bread was awesome, waffle fries very salty.. too much Lawrey's season salt on them.. in my opinion. Beautiful bar, but none the less, not impressed with food and the service. Really was hoping for a better turn-out from all the good things I've heard about this...

We have never been treated with such disrespect! I have a medical condition, and physically need the use of a cane. Due to my condition, I have to sit at a regular height table. The three of us sat down at a regular table. We ordered(alcohol) drinks, and water with ice. Drinks arrived, but no ice in the water, and short one glass. Ordered our fish lunch, and now served. However again we had to get the attention again from the girl bartender whom has been waiting on us, that we would appreciate some utensils and napkins to possibly enjoy our dinner. The. girl bar tender that took our orders, made us feel throughout our experience,as though she didn’t have time for us and was in a hurry. Mind you it was earlier, the front bar tables were all empty, and maybe 5 people sitting at the door end of the bar ,with a man bartender conversing the entire time we were there. Finishing our fish fry, we ordered another alcohol beverage. we were chatting as we were waiting for one of our group to finish their drink. All of a sudden the man bartender came over to our table and said he would like us to leave the table, because the table was for the handicap. We were shocked, needless to say. We looked at each other with dismay!! One of our group said to him, I would like to at least finish my drink. Mind you, as it does get quite busy, due to the fact their food is very good, but was definitely not busy yet. We did decide to just leave. Grabbing my cane for assistance, I again must say, what a horrible...
