While visiting Cooperstown for my 12 year old's baseball tournament, I drove past The Buzz in Fly Creek, NY, on my way to my rental house in Richfield Springs on Canadarago Lake. I thought to myself, that's looks like a place where I need to eat, so I did. Twice, actually, during my week long stay.
It's a new restaurant and, in my view, a much needed addition to the restaurant scene in and around Cooperstown. For me, it was nice to escape the tourists and bustle in downtown Cooperstown for a nice, quiet meal, 10 minutes outside of town.
I sat inside one night, with a good crowd, and ate dinner and had an excellent glass of wine (Pinot Noir). The second night, my son and I sat outside on a beautiful evening. Both nights, the service was outstanding. Friendly and attentive.
I highly recommend the crab cakes, the scallops, and the deep fried deviled eggs (sounds crazy but very tasty).
If you're visiting the Hall of Fame, take a quick drive to Fly Creek and visit the Buzz for dinner. I bet you'll like it as...
Read moreYou know a place is top notch when you and your husband walk out to the car in silence, shut the doors and say "wow." I read on Instagram about this cute little hole in the wall cocktail den, and I would say this exceeds any mention of that. The service was BEYOND phenomenal. Ari, our bartender has craftsmanship and pride with every drink she made for us, and all the drinks we watch her make for the other customers dining in. We came first when they opened tonight (4th of July) and watched the staff clean, and find tasks to keep themselves busy and the place immaculate to them bending over backwards with HIGH etiquette. I don't know if I have ever been more impressed right off the bat with a place. The fried deviled eggs are SO GOOD. I can't stop thinking about them. The fried cheese is also so good, and presentation is perfection. The drinks are phenomenal. Hands down will be back and so thankful they add such a high quality atmosphere and good option to the area..... No matter how far away you are...
Read moreWe had the worst dining experience in 60 years of dining out. This was a dinner to celebrate the 80th birthdays of our husbands. There was only one other table occupied and it took nearly two hours to get our food. Numerous items were not available from the menu—we were even informed another was not available after we ordered. Except for the bread, the food was mostly inedible. The “steak” looked and tasted like shoe leather, the asparagus was cooked beyond what any vegetable should be subjected to, the corn was starchy and overcooked, salad was drowned in dressing, etc. We should have walked out sooner and not waited for the food to arrive. If I could give them no stars I...
