First and foremost, I’d like to say the food at Broadway Gourmet is delicious. However, if you frequent this establishment enough, you’ll see how much is wrong with this store.
The service here is absolutely atrocious. I’m not sure if they need to hire a new manager or someone with more experience in the food service industry but the overall system needs major tweaking.
Bagel with cream cheese on a Saturday morning? Expect to wait 15-20 minutes from ordering to being served.
Calling ahead for a bagel with cream cheese on a Saturday morning? “We’ll see you in 40 minutes”
Ordering ahead via one of their online takeout options? I typically show up 5-10 minutes after they say the order will be ready. Hint: Its never ready.
I recently had Sequa deli on an extremely busy Thanksgiving morning. There might have been 40 customers in the store. I had 2 egg sandwiches in my hands in less than 10 minutes.
And don’t get me started on the parking. Jesus Christ, what is that parking lot? At least I can fill up my propane tank while I'm waiting 25 minutes for a pre-made panini. And if the parking wasn't bad enough, it looks like they are subletting a parking space to a trailer or RV. Great thinking!
EDIT: AFTER LEAVING MY REVIEW, THE OWNER WROTE A VERY LENGTHY AND UNPLEASANT REPLY. THIS REPLY HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED BY THE "." BELOW. I GUESS THEY REALIZED HOW UNPLEASANT THEIR...
Read moreWe catered for 110 adults, plus 20 kids under 12. This was not the usual neighborhood pizzeria or bagel store catering. This was so much more for the same price. To start, some cousins couldn't have nightshade, some needed to be gluten free. All accommodated, no problem. We ordered chicken plicata. Delicious. It always is. Penne vodka too. We got eggplant rollatini. They hit it perfectly, great texture and flavor. Cylinder of ricotta mixture in the middle. The real star to me was the pulled pork. Even BBQ restaurants can present pulled pork that could have been Dinty Moore's. But this place makes pork that is not only flavorful but filled with bark. You can't just take a bite; you have to go back for more. This comes with perfectly presented sweet rolls, like Hawaiian rolls. Unfortunately, I was the host, and we provided take-out containers, so I missed some dishes. I did get a delicious hunk of the 5-foot sandwich, on tender Italian bread and stuffed thick with Italian cold cuts. We also got a five-foot bagel sandwich. We asked them to duplicate a roasted potato dish that the family's matriarch always made. They came back with a great dish rich with bacon and olive oil and crisp roasted potatoes. I also need to report on the seasonal bagels, shaped as a pumpkin with great pumpkin flavor. My...
Read moreI've been going to this deli for 20+ years. The food is very good, the employees are mostly nice. But I have to say, every time I order, take out or delivery, they always manage to get it wrong somehow. I have a gluten intolerance and I love the fact that they have bread options for me. I ordered for delivery a sandwich on a gluten free wrap. They brought me that sandwich on a regular hoagie. I didn't open it until after the delivery guy left. So I called and explained that I have an intolerance and got regular bread. The kid on the phone was sucking his teeth and sighing as though I was inconveniencing him. He said OK we'll bring a new one. They brought the sandwich...on a regular wrap! I didn't realize it wasn't gluten free until I was halfway into the sandwich. Needless to say I had a stomach ache for the rest of the night. And just this morning, I went in and ordered a gluten free bagel toasted with butter and cream cheese. I got to work and opened my bagel to just butter, no cream cheese. It's very frustrating, especially when you don't have time to go back. I don't mean to give a bad review, I just wish they would listen more carefully, be a little more polite and work maybe a little more swiftly. Otherwise, it's a clean place and the...
