We tried Capones on the West side for the first time Tues evening. They are a nice little Italian eatery that originated in Penfield and has went viral as of late with some of their unique offerings. We were familiar with the location here in Spencerport from visiting under the prior ownership. The location is conveniently located on W.Ridge Rd heading West just past 259. It has plenty of parking and it’s an easy in out for those on foot or even by wheelchair. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We were helped right away and they got the food out fast. We had the Meatball Parm sub, The Vodka Chicken and Pesto Cutlet sub and we tried their Cheesecake filled burned sugar cones for dessert. The subs were very big and full. On the Meatball, the meatballs were fresh, homemade and the sauce and cheese were plentiful. This was our favorite. Great flavor! The Vodka Chicken Cutlet was a little underwhelming. While it was also very filling the chicken cutlet was a little dried out and almost had a burnt flavor to it. There also wasn’t much Vodka sauce on the sub at all nor did I pick up on any hints of the Pesto. I’m guessing it was a down evening for that particular sub as we’ve heard nothing but good things about it. We’ll give it one more shot another time. The dessert was amazing! Not too sweet, creamy, rich and just the perfect little dessert to wash everything down with. Normally I’d walk out of a place like that with a Cannoli but after trying this delicious little pastry i’m not sure there is any turning back! Overall, we’re excited to have them on the west side and we look forward to trying their pizza and other offerings ASAP. Definitely worth checking out if you are on...
Read moreI have to say this was in my top 5 worst pizza I have ever had.
Started out with prices that were way too high. But I wanted to try this place. So I placed my order and went to pick it up. Got there and my mozzarella sticks were sitting on the counter behind the register ... as expected when I got home they were cold. So cold the cheese in the middle was turning hard.
I ordered garlic knots - they looked great. However the bread was dried out like I was eating toast and they had no flavor. I think they forgot the garlic and just put a little butter in thr bottom of the pan. They didn't ever have butter on top of them so it was clearly put in the dish before the knots. So thr bread dried out and was almost inedible. I ate one and have the rest to my dogs.
Then the pizza. There was almost no sauce and way too much cheese. I had meatballs on mine and what I tasted was more like a dry pot roast and nothing like a tasty italian meatball. The beef had no flavor and was minutes away from having the moisture of beef jerky.
All in all - horrible experience and as I mentioned earlier - top 5 worst pizza...
Read moreWe tried the new Capones in Spencerport and have mixed results. First, I know they just opened and are still trying to train people and everything is new. We ordered a few subs, one of them came with arugula, which we don’t care for so we asked for Romaine lettuce instead, no problem! When we got it home, there was NO lettuce at all. Then, we asked for Italian dressing on another sub, which we were told that they did not have there. I know they MUST have Italian dressing, it’s an Italian eatery! I just feel like the kids that are working there don’t know the answers and instead of asking, they just say no. We were also told that there was no Swiss cheese, not sure if that was really the case or not. Also, when I opened the bag, there was no label or writing of any kind saying which sub was which and I had to run some out to my son’s house so I had to unwrap them to try to figure out what was what. Hopefully these are just quick fixes after everyone knows better after training. On a good note; the bread was amazing and so was the garlic mayonnaise. We will...
