Carriage House Restaurant & Tavern — Restaurant in Town of Patterson

Ridiculous. My husband was continually ignored when he came to pick up our carry out. He asked about a drink with the kids meal that was included on the menu and they said it only applies to dine in (not noted anywhere on the menu). Then after he brought the food to the car we realized there was no plasticware and no way to eat the salad on the go (we drove from another state). Nor was there ketchup for my child’s burger and fries. When I returned to ask for a plastic fork I was told they don’t have any. They never supply it because “everyone takes it home to eat it” and “everyone is local, no one from out of town orders carry out”. I was given the option to eat in restaurant but we had a set appointment, and thus the reason we ordered carry out. In all my life I have NEVER ordered from a restaurant that did not have any disposable utensils. And the kicker was they were so unapologetic about it, like I was the odd one requesting it and it was the norm to NOT have it on hand at the restaurant. They did give me a container with ketchup for my child, so there was that. But, my child, who will eat just about any hamburger, refused to eat it and said it was disgusting. Service rated as 1 star. Today’s mediocre tip was in response to the mediocre service. Usually there’s decent service but today was an exception.

Waited a long for them to take our orders. Waited and waited. On my way to the restroom, found the 3 hard working servers talking together behind the bar. Mentioned we were ready to place our order. It was awkward to interrupt their conversation. Maybe they were sorting out something?

Later, waited exceptionally long for the bill. Similar problem. She had said she’d be back in a minute. There was only one other table of people. Where was she? After 15 minutes or so, walked to the bar again. Our server was behind the bar texting on her phone. Watched to see if she was nearing completion, which she wasn’t. Asked if she could close our bill. Again, very awkward.

When customers have to locate the server not once but twice something’s not right.

Understandably, food service is high pressure. Everyone has good days and bad days. Life throws curve balls. That said, today’s service wasn’t their finest hour. Food was excellent as usual. Will...

Lunch with 4 other adults on Friday afternoon. We sat in the bar and it was not busy. Food was excellent. Only two of us ordered appetizers; French onion soup and pretzel bread. I had tuna on quinoa which included a sautéed spinach and mango salsa. I asked for the tuna to be well done, and it was. Another had the burger special-whiskey burger?- and said it was delicious. Two others had panninis and one had grilled chicken on salad. Everyone really enjoyed the lunch. The bartender was also the waiter, server and bus boy. He had a great personality but I think he could have used some help. Beverages included 2 "near beers", 2 beers, iced tea, a margarita, ( that was the only thing that was not good at all!) and 2 diet cokes. Plus 2 coffees. Total bill including tip was $245. Probably would have been reasonable without alcohol. Five different dishes and each one of us thought the food was delicious....
