Me and a friend come in once in a while on Monday nights. Usually Brittney is there and she is awesome. Last night someone else was bartending, a younger girl, we had the worst experience I have ever had at a bar. We walk in to be greeted with an eye roll, the bartender did not introduce herself or ever attempt to make any conversation. The entire time we were there she stormed around the restaurant slamming things and cleaning the counter over and over again(almost like letting us know she wanted us to leave) Mind you we got there before 9 and they don’t close until ten. We then sat there for 20 minutes with empty drinks while she slammed things and stormed around cleaning things that were already cleaned.. she finally gets us our drinks and as she hands them to us says “are you ready to pay cause it’s last call” with a horrible attitude. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she had a rough day, we offered to get her a drink, instead of saying no thank you she responds, I dont drink and rolls her eyes. So we closed out and went on the patio to drink our drinks. She followed us outside and continued slamming things around. My friend had to use the bathroom and she FOLLOWED HER IN THERE to “clean” slamming things around and propped the door open while she was going to the bathroom, so incredibly rude. At 10:02 someone came outside and told us. “You have to wrap it up we’re closed” we didn’t even get the finish the drinks we had. I have never felt so unwanted and uncomfortable in a bar my entire life. I usually would never write a review, but it was really bad. I will not be returning unless I know...
Read moreAs a fan of good old small-town taverns with a history to match their other charms, I was just delighted to walk into The Wicked Glen and scope out the woodwork, the massive bar back and the pretty extensive collection of Jim Beam decanters that take up a whole wall in the dining room area. Old meets new in the patio and deck which looks to be recently and solidly constructed - perfect for sunning and sipping cool drinks in the summer, but looking equally inviting during cooler months with a gazebo and propane fire pit. Local microbrews, some local wines and a sampling of locally distilled products fit nicely into a pretty sizable selection of beers, wines and top shelf liquors. Prices are very reasonable and service was small town friendly and prompt. While I didn't eat during my first visit, there is a very good chance I'll be back to sample a few items off their pub menu, which includes a stable of half pound burgers, freshly made chips and fries, local specialties like wings and roast beef and even pizzas. If you like a casual place with friendly regulars, plenty of space and a pretty varied selection of beverages and munchies, you'd be hard pressed to find a better choice in the southern part of WNY than The Wicked Glen. I'll...
Read moreIf you're from out of town, go ahead and skip this place. It looks nice from the outside, and it seems to be open almost every night. But when my wife and I decided to see what the place was all about (and she is previously from Gowanda), they immediately denied us service because our IDs were from another state (Florida IDs).
The waitress was completely rude, stating absurd things like that we should be aware there are cameras everywhere, and that the bar owner was a "nazi" when concerning the use of IDs that were not from New York. It was unnecessarily suggestive that because our IDs were from out of state that they were automatically fake. She didn't even look at them. We were simply outright denied to be served.
The waitress also mentioned we would need three other forms of photo ID if we were interested in arguing the subject. Last I checked, I was in a bar, not activating a utility for my home...
We ended up going over the bridge to a small bar called "Palm Gardens", which is attached to a hotel. We expressed our distress to our recent treatment and they agreed how absurd it was. Palm Gardens -served-...
