Well, third times, the charm, or is it 3 strikes you're out for this restaurant? We have been here 3 times in the last month. On every occasion, the service was the worst I've had anywhere, but we decided to give them one last chance. We were the first table seated today around 11:30. The owner/ manager sat us at a booth and went to get our drinks. He proceeded to seat 3 more tables that came in over the next 10 minutes. The waitress literally walked right past us and took the food order of the last table to sit down. She walked past us again with absolutely no acknowledgment on her part on the way back by. Our menus at this point had been closed for 10 minutes. 5 minutes later, she brought that table their soups. She then proceeded to walk past us again to the table across from us. They were just looking at their menus. She asked if they were ready to order, but they said they needed a few more minutes. She then walked past us again without a glance our way. At this point, the manager/owner was still standing in the dining room, two tables away from us talking to the table whose order she had just taken. Since the manager sat us and brought our drinks, he clearly knew when we got there and that we were yet to have been greeted or our order had been taken, yet he did nothing about it. After 5 more minutes without service or any type of acknowledgment, we did get up and leave. I did tell the manager why we were leaving, and we will NEVER go back. The food is mediocre at best. Add in the HORRIBLE service, and it's just a losing combination. The last time we went, they sat us in the bar area, and we NEVER saw a waitress. I'm not kidding. How in the world does this place stay open? Don't bother trying this restaurant because it will be a waste...
Read moreRude, unprofessional service and management. Service was terrible, had to go find our own salt and pepper , waitress forgot our drinks , food was especially the worst that I have ever been served !!! Don't waste your time or money! What a wonderful dump! A deception to the public to be listed and labeled under the term of "RESTAURANT. " Many years ago this establishment; "The Fifth Wheel" , drew in a hell of a crowd. If my memory serves me correctly I believe it was a small truck stop. A constant flow of travelers, truckers, and local patrons created an entrance with a revolving door . The food was great the service spoke for itself ....... explaining why the business remained thriving for many many years with people traveling to and from and by that small little truck stop returning time and time again to a friendly, open, inviting atmosphere. The homemade- like meals were served with a smile whether it was six o' clock in the morning or 2 a.m. ; possibly catering to a semi- rowdy, after bar crowd. The present company of the Roadside Bar and Grill should take notice of the many years the public was served by the customer- friendly, and focused proprietors and employees of the once known Fifth Wheel Truck Stop. Classes in management , customer service, and culinary arts may be the only thing that will keep this building's doors open. Honestly, to anyone reading this review do not waste your time or money at this establishment, unless you just have the need to experience for yourself, just how horrible and inedible the food is, alongside the extremely rude and unprofessional conduct of the owner and...
Read moreWe were on a road trip from our home in Fishers, IN and happened to stop by the Roadside Bar & Grill on our way to the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake. We were pleasantly greeted by our hostess. The first thing we noticed was the wide variety of lunch options. It made it difficult to decide. We were then greeted by our server Landon, who gave us some helpful suggestions for lunch. He was a very intelligent and friendly young man who told us that he worked there for 3 years, but that was about to end as he was about to start his freshman year studying math with hopes to be a math teacher. We could tell that Landon was a young man with a purpose! We enjoyed the generous proportions o our lunch. Several times Landon came by our table to see how we were doing and asked if we were enjoying our lunch. Landon was a very attentive server. When we said that we were sharing a cheesecake covered with berries for dessert, he very thoughtfully sliced it into two equal pieces and served us our own portions smothered in blueberries and strawberries with a whipped cream on the side. We were very impressed by the food, but having such a charming and attentive server made our lunch at the Roadside memorable. He even offered some suggestions of things to do in his home town of Sheboygan, one of which was to visit the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
We will be back and hope to have Landon as our server...
