My father and I had lunch at Falafel Town today. I ordered the Beef Shish-Kabob and my father ordered the Lamb Shish-Kabab. I could tell from the very beginning that the waitresses were either recently hired and/or didn't have much experience in food service. They were confused about the particulars of what each dish entailed and did not check in with the table after receiving our meal. When our meals did arrive, a majority of the cuts of beef, which were described as "charbroiled" on the menu were burned. The cuts of beef that were't so badly burned were still extremely dry, chewy, and had not been seasoned. There is a clear line between charbroiled and burned meat. They clearly crossed it. The beef sat on a bed of poorly seasoned basmati rice which had only pieces of herbs halve-haphazardly thrown into the mix. My father's meal also featured burned, unseasoned, and dry pieces of lamb on a bed of poorly seasoned rice. This was the perfect example of a mediocre dish; simply thrown together by cooks not tasting the food they are serving. It was a truly disappointing meal, we do not plan on returning to this establish and suggest potential customers take their business elsewhere. The meal was extremely cheap and portions decent, I will...
Read moreI choose Falafel Town, or Hudson Valley Falafel, over the other Mediterranean restaurants in town (which serve basically the same choices in foods) because they have the best falafels I've ever tried. Hands down the best in Poughkeepsie. Every time my husband and I have eaten here we have gotten a delicious, fresh meal. I like my falafel to be quite crunchy on the outside & when these get cold they do wonderfully popped in the oven for a few minutes. I have noticed reviews about the oil being old & a moldy pita bread, but personally that has never happened to me here. This place IS family owned.... so ..Maybe they had a bad day that day or something, or just wasn't paying close enough attention to everything, idk. But don't go by these reviews. I have eaten here many times & they are worth at least trying ONE time to see if you like it or not. 💕 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon this family & their restaurant business... may you keep to the straight path so as not to earn the anger of Allah, as can so easily be done in today's world when we are trying to cater to & please those other than Allah. And may you prosper and thrive in your...
Read moreThe food was just ok from what I experienced, however, my friend said the falafel he had was great. The service experience was bad... the initial conversation over the phone was aggravating because of the lack of communication skills the girl had, and it was NOT a language barrier issue. Simple things were made difficult. At the restaurant, the service wasn't great either. Maybe she was tired because we were their last customers of the day, who knows. All I know is I wouldn't go back, ESPECIALLY because the hair in my food I pulled from my mouth was most definitely not mine, and the waitress tried to tell me it probably was. She gave me a free rice pudding for the trouble (which was delicious) but there's no chance I'm dealing with that...
