City of Poughkeepsie Police Department — Local services in City of Poughkeepsie

I called seeking information. The woman who answered the phone was quite short, did not listen well and when I asked her to clarify which court the case will be heard in, she said (in a snotty teenager's tone), "you're the one who told me it was a city court." I did not.

My first statement when I called was that I am trying to find out at which court a case will be heard. She asked me where the arrest was made, and I answered her, "the city of poughkeepsie." I told her that the person is at the Dutchess County jail. She attempted to offload me to the Dutchess County Jail, so I reiterated that I'm trying to find out where the court case would be heard initially.

I'm very polite, well spoken, clear & concise. She did say that it will be at the city court, and I hope that I have received correct information from her.

People do not contact the police because everything is wonderful, so it would behoove all of us to give each other a little grace during these interactions and not let our frustrations from elsewhere be visited upon people who had nothing to do with why we were...

While I had attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park years ago, I had a run in with this departments police. My worst nightmare and the brutality they have inflicted on my still resonants to this day. I was a passenger on my way back to campus from a local bar/restaurant “Darby’s” close to the college and the officers pulled over the driver and cited them for their violation. As I was told to leave the vehicle I was tackled by 2 officers and beat up pretty badly then taken to their municipal decrepit looking station to be held without any issuance of arrest. I questioned a Sargent and they grabbed me and threw me around while being handcuffed. This was back in 2010-2011. The local jurisdiction judge at the time “hopefully not still there” is in with these guys and does not care about anything but making $$ for the area.

ON MARCH 22 I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, GOT OUT TO LOOK AT DAMAGES AND TOLD THE PERSON TO PULL OVER BUT SHE TOOK OFF AS I WAS TRYING TO PULL OVER!! I FOLLOWED HER AND GOT THE PLATE NUMBER AND CALLED THE CITY POUGHKEEPSIE POLICE WHILE FOLLOWING HER. I WAS TOLD TO STOP FOLLOWING HER AND COME TO THE STATION OK I DID.. HERE ITS APRIL 26 AND THE REPORT IT JUST BEING PUSH THROUGH CAUSE I KEPT CALLING FOR LAST 2 DAYS CAUSE MY INSURANCE COMPANY COULDNT GET THE REPORT CAUSE THEY AINT DOING THERE JOB!! OVER A MONTH AGO AND WHEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE BOSS BOTH DAYS I CALLED I COULD NEVER SPEAK WITH THE BOSS😤🤬 CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEEDS TO DO BETTER...
